Let's talk Amsterdam 2014

Thought it was time to start a thread on the upcoming Amsterdam shows (Europe 2014) in June.

Topics: Travel Plans - Pre-Show get-togethers - After-Show Get-togethers - Favorites? Fav touristy places, non-touristy fav places - Coffeeshops (Dampkring), Shopping (9 Streets), Restaurants - (Febo anyone?)-, Tattoo shops, share images... why whatever works.

I'll start with quick one...

So we were fortunate enough to get tickets to both Ziggo Dome shows...
This will be my 3rd trip to Amsterdam. (From U.S.)

My first visit was 2 years ago, when I went on a "need to find myself trip" after having some serious heart issues that required surgery and a bunch of other crap... long story I'll save for another time.

So to carry on, I took my wife back last October and she also fell in love with the city and country, so a week after getting back we saw PJ on OKC... I remember saying afterwards, "How cool would it be to see them in Amsterdam?"... couple weeks later they announce... and we get lucky.. Still can't believe it.

    My husband and I are travelling from Copenhagen to Amsterdam for the first time. I'm going to both shows, and my husband is going to night 1. We are staying at the Bastion Hotel which is supposed to be quite near to Ziggo Dome.

    It would be cool to find some pre-party or after-party and hang out with some fellow jammers.
    We're planning to spend most of day 1 in line to get rail (hoping for sunny weather!), so probably no pre-party for us there. But night 2 it would be great. Otherwise we're up for afterparties! I haven't seen anything mentioned on here about that yet.

    Since we have never been to Amsterdam before, all input about cool places would be much appreciated. (I was also considering getting a new tattoo as a souvenir but figured jumping around in the pit with fresh ink is probably not a great idea).

    As for song requests: I've yet to hear Tremor Christ live, so that would be awesome.

    This gonna be my 5th trip to this amazing city..i was also in 2012 and i have seen Primal Scream in Paradiso,one of the most historical places in the world..there was a pre-party two years ago,so probably we expecting something like that again..the acoustik on Ziggo Dome its unbielevable..about request..i could make a full setlist with request,so i'm not gonna start this..i have a feeling since the day i booked my tix..i thing we gonna make history in those two days..

    Love the Centraal Station architecture. The bars around the red light were great, Hill Street Blues, The Grasshopper and the surreal night time atmosphere. Went to a Tom Waits show in the Carrè and it was one of the greatest nights I've ever experienced. The walk back to Dam Square still buzzing from the show and the hours before in bars and coffee shops is unforgettable. Would really love to repeat the experience with PJ shows but it isn't to be again this time. Really glad they have put the city back on their radar though. Great steakhouses too and after dark munchies. Would murder a shoarma kebab right now.

    I don't know if anyone is into visiting a museum, but I can recommand The Rijks museum.
    The location is nice and the collection is beautifull.
    So if you don't want to hang in a bar all day long, I'd say it is a great activity for early afternoon.
    It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me.

    Hey Just noticed the Bull dog photo.
    The shop next to it is also a nice place.
    The Doors cafe is very close to the station and they aren't extremely pricy.
    And the music is good.
    It's not who I am underneath, but what I do that defines me.

    Great buildings,friendly people,the biggest park in Europe and beautiful squares.Culture and night life block by block..What else you have to ask?

    Never been to Dublin, but Amsterdam tops both London and Paris in my opinion, but then again, I can't give much of a full opinion because I've only been to London and Paris for a couple of days each. Amsterdam is much more relaxed and it doesn't have that Pressure cooker Mega City feel to it.

    One way to get to Ziggo Dome is the train from Centraal Station. Here's a shot of the Bijlmer Arena Station. Ziggo is across the street from the Stadium...

    I'm super excited for Amsterdam. Where should I be looking for hotels? I'll be doing sober sightseeing before the concerts.

    So, PJ will probably play roughly 30 songs a night, I think. What does everyone want them to play? Or any ideas on how this will go down? I would like to see All or None.

    Didn't think I was going to make any of the Europe shows this summer. Saw the weary look in husband's eyes when I floated the idea, pledged to be a "good" wife and not inconvenience the family because of my obsession. ... then weeks after I'd resigned myself to missing it, extended family plans develop in unexpected ways an it turns out I'M GONNA BE IN AMSTERDAM ON JUNE 17th!!!!! I hate resellers but I was glad to have them tonite!! :D

    Will be traveling from Finland - super excited! There's four of us, and we've booked a house boat for three nights, right in the city centre along one of the canals. We figured, When in Rome... :D It was the last cheap boat we could find, the rest were some sort of luxury deals no-one can afford, or at least not us.
