Sealed albums are important for a lot of reasons. For a collector, it's an opportunity to have something that will always be "new", no matter how long ago it was issued. I can't speak for those who buy albums just so they can flip them, that's just being opportunistic.

Consider why anyone would be willing to pay a premium for anything, there has to be a perceived value and a tangible benefit. With a sealed album, you have the comfort of knowing that, regardless of how long ago it may have been issued, if you ever decide to open it, for that album it will be for the first time......

There's a certain magic to that. And, if you keep it sealed, the magic just sits there on the shelf, waiting.

One (sealed) has just sold on eBay for £370 ($573). Of course, we have no idea whether this was a re-seal or original. Interestingly enough, the seller had a copy in their eBay history as sold about a year ago... which sold for more. Thought for a moment about bidding, but common sense prevailed.
The secret to a happy ending is knowing when to roll the credits

I agree, sealed albums need to have some sort of provenance, or the seller needs credibility. It's too easy to have something resealed.

I have a number of sealed albums, and my wife jokes that they're probably copies of Chipmunk Punk or The California Raisins.....

I'm guess that since the previous post was from January 2011, that it was essentially a bump by way of question.
