Songs for the Deaf by QOTSA for instance, I'll never forget how it sounded after a couple of good J's, but it's an awesome record straight headed as well.
As for Queensryche and Rush I dont think they are really stoner bands are they? Not my bag anyway.
This is stoner rock at its best Symptom of the Universe the mighty Sabbath:
Take me through the centuries to supersonic years
Electrifying enemy is drowning in his tears
All I have to give you is a love that never dies
The symptom of the universe is written in your eyes
Yeah
Mother mooch is calling me back to her silver womb
Father of creation takes me from my stolen tomb
Seventh night the unicorn is waiting in the skies
A symptom of the universe, a love that never dies
Yeah
Take my hand, my child of love come step inside my tears
Swim the magic ocean Ive been crying all these years
When our love will ride away into eternal skies
A symptom of the universe, a love that never dies
Yeah
Oh my child of loves creation, come and step inside my dreams
In your eyes I see no sadness, you are all that loving means
Take my hand and well go riding through the sunshine from above
Well find happiness together in the summer skies of love

Yes but I was specifically referring to some of the bands mentioned by the poster I quoted.. who weren't Stoner metalNot everything is Stoner metal just cos it's only good when stoned... like you said.
'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. He had a bed made of clay and the three kings bought him Gold, Frankenstein and Merv as presents.'

Black Mountain is pretty good.
Not really metal, but they definitely fit into the Stoner Rock category w/ QOTSA. They definitely have the Sabbath feel to them.Obama/Biden '08!!!0 -

Today I Youtubed Baroness, Priestess, Orange Goblin, Crowbar, Corrosion of Conformity, Kyuss... and I reminded myself what Black Sabbath sounded like (believe it or not, I really hadn't heard much)... Freaking awesome, all of it. I could get really used to this Stoner stuff'We're learning songs for baby Jesus' birthday. His mum and dad were Merry and Joseph. Of course! Was right on the barrier - got some decent pictures. Will put a link up when I get them sorted.
That's the reason I missed out on Clutch's last gig over here this year.http://www.wishlistfoundation.org

My 2 friends were on the barrier like bang in the middle and the other 2 friends I went with were behind. One of them has massive dreads and wears like a little hat lol so just incase you might have seen.
Cool how they just played but more crowd recognition doesn't hurt ;p
Yeah man, you should upload them as a .rar to some site.0 -

I remember a guy with dreads - was he also at the Pelican gig there earlier this year? If he was I think I know who you mean.http://www.wishlistfoundation.org

They aren't really talkers. Some bands just don't have it in them.
It was sweet though I saw them on the 10th anniversary tour last year and 27 opened for them and they brought Maria and Ayol out from 27 to do "weight" and "the beginning and the end" and again in the encore I believe to do "carry" VERY COOL.{if (work != 0) {
work = work + 1;
sleep = sleep - work * 10;}

Nah don't think so - not really a fan of festivals. Give me headlining gigs any day!
Photos uploaded - there were more, but I've reached my limit with Flickr so far this month!

Most of my suggestions have already been mentioned, but...
Isis
Pelican
Boris
Not sure if they all fall right into this genre, but these are all heavy bands that sound very psychedelic imo. I just saw Boris last weekend for their final show in the U.S. for their current tour...it was probably the best small-venue show I've ever seen in my life....even better than their previous performance this past summer in Boston. There are some artists who are so focused and so in-touch with themselves, that you can just look at them and see that they've almost become a column of air...like a stream of pure consciousness. That's what I see in all three members of Boris. They are amazing. For any of you who don't know them, I highly suggest checking out their myspace.
Isis is also a great performing band....they never fail to take you on a nice long trip. I've not yet seen Pelican live, but I've heard good things.0 -
The Sword are awesome. Saw them open for MetallicA last month in Columbus. Great lo-fi stoner metal.Do you remember Rock & Roll Radio?0
