Whatever, ISIS is one of the best live bands on the planet right now. I would pick them over those 2 bands any day of the week without hesitation( and i love both lanegan and clutch)

ISIS has got to be pretty damn good live to be better than Clutch. I have seen Clutch a total of 37 times since the mid-1990s and no band that I have seen (hundreds upon hundreds) can put on the type of live show that Clutch puts on.

Saw Isis in austria last year while on tour with pj but i didn't know shit about them but ive got into them so much since then

  • I think the best Stoner album ever is Queensryche's Operation Mindcrime. Rush's 2112 is a close second. A good indicator is that when you're sober you realize how cheesy these albums are but when you're stoned they seem like absolute masterpieces.

I really wouldn't cool 2112 stoner rock hmm,

but yeah that album is the fucking shit.

Hmm.. I haven't heard those albums but doesn't that just mean they're shit if you're not stoned? If you're going by that definition, you could put anything in.... Nickelback?

Stoner rock is not about it only been good when stoned, it's just kick arse wholesome rock music, that sounds extra kick arse when stoned.
Songs for the Deaf by QOTSA for instance, I'll never forget how it sounded after a couple of good J's, but it's an awesome record straight headed as well.
As for Queensryche and Rush I dont think they are really stoner bands are they? Not my bag anyway.

This is stoner rock at its best Symptom of the Universe the mighty Sabbath:

Take me through the centuries to supersonic years
Electrifying enemy is drowning in his tears
All I have to give you is a love that never dies
The symptom of the universe is written in your eyes

    Yeah

Mother mooch is calling me back to her silver womb
Father of creation takes me from my stolen tomb
Seventh night the unicorn is waiting in the skies
A symptom of the universe, a love that never dies

    Yeah

Take my hand, my child of love come step inside my tears
Swim the magic ocean Ive been crying all these years
When our love will ride away into eternal skies
A symptom of the universe, a love that never dies

    Yeah

Oh my child of loves creation, come and step inside my dreams
In your eyes I see no sadness, you are all that loving means
Take my hand and well go riding through the sunshine from above
Well find happiness together in the summer skies of love

I'll call both of them borderline masterpieces sober. And no, they both do not belong in this thread.

Isis, Pelican and Clutch are all incredibly awesome live.

Pearl Jam and Nine Inch Nails are the best live bands in the world. FACT.
Clutch is pretty good live, I really enjoyed them when I saw them (in 04) but ISIS is just incredible live. All personal preference right.

My bad. Isn't pretty much any music stoner rock. I remember being quite stoned back in the day and tripping out on Eddie Van Halen's guitar work.

So I was wondering, how many people on this board are into the heavier more "stoner" metal? I know that Jeff has name droped Mastodon and Stone put out the first Queens of the Stone Age album on his loosegrove record label.(Or so I have been lead to believe, correct me if I'm wrong)

I really enjoy this "genre" and would like to hear some suggestions as to what I may wanna check out. I'll list a few bands to give you a sense of what I mean.

    Mastodon
    Kyuss
    Queens of the Stone Age
    Clutch
    Sassquatch
    Bison B.C.
    The Melvins
    Kittens
    KENmode
    Fu Manchu
    Desert Sessions

    and so on

I have a feeling if anyone replys to this at all its gonna be that brat with the hard on for Coheed and Cambria.

    KENmode is fucking awesome.
Hello, I love you. Won't you tell me your name?

Those are all badass bands. Velodrome is one of the best two piece bands I've ever seen. Dan from EQ is a buddy of mine.

Not only is there those types of bands, but Winnipeg has a pretty bitchin punk rock scene. Both of them tend to tie in together pretty well, which makes from some awesome shows. There's bands like Quagmire, Hot Live Guys, Raiden, American Flamewhip and Under Pressure.

It's too bad the Albert still doesn't book all these bands as regularly as they used to. It was the perfect bar for sloppy shows. I used to have a reason to go down there almost every weekend, but now its like once every couple of months. Luckily, there is a Hide Your Daughters/Hot Live Guys/Velodrome show coming up on the 19th at the Albert. That promises to be a greasy good time.

Bollards - knew I'd forget someone!!

Masters of Reality are indeed well worth a listen!

Speaking of which - what's happening with them?? As far as I can tell the new album's not out yet and I still have tickets to go see them at Glasgow Cathouse (gig was 'postponed' earlier in the year).
