Who is acting "entitled" to anything? I wouldnt be going to the show if tickets were $1.50 with free parking.
I dont care even they are charging $250 a ticket... except ed goes on and on about how the upper class, and the wealthy get all the benefits. If ed shuts his mouth about that kinda thing, then its meaningless.
And the debate is not about who the money is going to (charity)... its about who is getting the chance to be a part of a likely special evening (those with money).0 -

But its not about the upper class getting benefits. Its about the band believing that by DONATING a few hours of their time and playing music, they can get the rich people in that room to drop 3 MILLION DOLLARS of their money into a cause that the band has deeply cared about since the very beginning. By pissing you off that night, they will raise 3 million for people who dont have a pot to piss in.

here's some good news and for the hater's
Last time I went to a RobinHood benefit show was two years ago and it was the Rolling Stones and the B-52s opened for them. It was at radio city music hall and the place was packed. But they had an open bar on every floor and on both sides. Come in grab a top shelf drink( was drinking Johnny Black all night Long) go to your seat and there was a t-shirt and rolled up poster to commerate the night. It was fucking awesome night, they played four songs that I never heard live.(worried about you, she was hot, waiting on a friend, and can't you hear me knocking) This is going to be an amazing night, trust me the last time people were offering me 1000 for one ticket. Not sure if they will be ames posters or Klausen. But last show was free t-shirt, poster, and free top shelf drinks all night long. This is 3 million were talking here PJ will pull out all the stops this will be better than IRVING PLAZA and the show of the year. Plus this is the last show of the tour.0 -
if no one debates......there will be no more debate.

Yep, it starts with an H, but I'm sure you got it through PM's.
NYbenben, dude call her back. If the guy won't let you talk to her keep on it. That's how my gf got us tix yesterday. She wouldn't give up until she got tix. I mean you were next in line so you deserve to get in there. I wouldn't wait for her to call you, because I'm sure there are hundreds of people calling.
Yea this thread does suck with all the bitching. Anyone wanna start a "positive vibes only" Beacon thread? ; )0 -
in a few short days this thread is currently the 10'th most viewed thread on the message pit. Its up there with pics where ed looks hot, play the south, columbus fan gone missing etc.
Wow!baby boomers selling you rumors of their history, forcing youth away from the truth of what's real today.0 -

I'm blown away by what I'm reading on this thread. This is not a Pearl Jam event. That is why no Ten Club involvement. This is an annual RobinHood charity event that happens to have gotten our favorite group to donate its time and money to play. Robin Hood is dictating the prices (same as in the past). Many people have looked into the finances on how to scope these events to make them the most profitable. That is the point. Trying to make this about hypocrisy is simply just looking for something to bitch at. By the way, if you think $250/350/500 donations are for targeting only the wealthy, I think it is time to think about your personal charitable donations. That is an amount average people should be donating. Sorry, just my opinion. Real charity is more than $2 for some kids baseball team uniforms. Now you may have already chosen your group of organizations, or simply waiting to donate to John McCain, but please don't call this band hypocritical for helping raise significant dollars to one of my city's most important organizations aimed at assisting the less fortunate. I was going to donate to them anyway, I just got a nice treat for doing so.
Now, that said. I am with everyone that is pumped for this event. Although I don't think think the band owes me anything. Even if they only play 5 songs and I only get 2 drinks, all will be good. Yeah for Robin Hood!
Oh and for those still waiting for callbacks. Hang in there, they are working really diligently in making this happen.1998-06-23 Denver

I don't think anyone is taking issue with you having your opinion and it being different than many of the others, mine included. I think many of us don't understand where you are coming from because this simply doesn't feel like the band is selling out to the rich or not staying consistent with their past stances. I can say I have pondered your posts, I like differing opinions for just that reason, but I don't agree and I don't understand why you keep making it over and over again. Let's agree to disagree.
Btw, I think Janet Jackson is selling tickets at over $200 just get in the door at Madison Square Garden. Now that, I think we can all agree, is absurd.
Enjoy the weekend. I'm done with this thread.1998-06-23 Denver
