So I just heard this album in it's entirety for the first time today. I'd heard El Scorcho before and that one's good.
Anyway, this has got to be the biggest, "what the fuck........????" album I've ever heard. Seriously. I don't know what to think about it. I'm gonna go smoke some weed and listen again and see if I "get it".

it took me around 6-8 listens before I realized what I was actually listening to, and how good it really was.
i love the album, way back when i was a jr. and sr. in high school that album was *it* for me."I'll do whatever the song dictates - if it doesn't need a real lead, then I won't do one. But if it does, then I'll fuckin' go off." - Mike
"Japan is awesome; the fans there knew all the words to all the songs...at least phonetically." - Stone
"I know this song so well, I can smoke a cigarette, have a drink, brush my teeth, take a shit, and mow the lawn while singing it. But I'll only be doing a couple of those things during this version." - EV0 -
I think it is ok. It always puzzles me when people say it is superior to the blue album.0

Its one of the best records ever."I am a doughnut." (live - Berlin, Germany - 11/03/96)
"Behave like rock stars - not like the President." (live - Noblesville, IN - 8/17/98)

"Yeah, I was gonna learn to play it (Breath) but somebody slipped me a bottle of viagra and was busy doing something else six times last night" (live - New York, NY - 9/10/98)

pinkerton's really good.
I love the sound / production of this album.
A few good tracks on it.2006: Antwerp, Paris
2007: Copenhagen, Werchter
2009: Rotterdam, London
2010: MSG, Arras, Werchter
2012: Amsterdam, Prague, Berlin
2014: Amsterdam, Stockholm0 -
This is where it all started.0

Yeah I too love the production. The guitars sound is awesome on that album.
Its a really good album.0 -

Explain.
I think people point to how personal the album was for Rivers. I guess he was very dissapointed people didn't receive it well. I really like it and see it as equal to or greater than the Blue album.0 -
Okay....follow up.
I listened to it twice last night stoned (it's obviously intriguing to me since I listened twice) and I have a feeling this is one of those No Code or Adore type albums. The ones that continue to get better with each listen but leave you confused as shit after the first listen. If this assumption is correct I'll be very happy - those type albums are the best!
I like three more songs than I did after first listen now
And I wasn't expecting a rehash of Blue but damn I wasn't expecting polar opposites. This has got to be the least pop thing Weezer has ever done.0 -

It's exactly one of those type of albums.0 -
Alright, so I definitely like this album now. Been listening to it at least a few times a day since starting this thread. Not quite at Blue's level to me yet, though. However it's amazing how much more they put into this album. It just seems like it was premature for them. This is the kind of album that should've come out around Green's time I think.
Anyways still working on getting only two more songs in that "listen to on repeat" status (out of all ten).
How I could've overlooked Tired of Sex, Getchoo, Pink Triangle, and Butterfly from first listen just baffles me to death. Those are great tunes!0 -
I didn't fall head over heels in love with Pinkerton until the 3rd listen. The first I was just not expecting what I heard...the second I was warming up to it...the third I *got it* and haven't ever looked back.If you want to tell people the truth, make them laugh, otherwise they'll kill you.

I agree. It’s a shame that Pinkerton was Weezer's last good album.Leeds 25/08/06
Berlin 23/09/06
London 18/6/070 -

The last one is not that bad. Not as good as blue album and pinkerton, but not bad.2006: Antwerp, Paris
2007: Copenhagen, Werchter

2012: Amsterdam, Prague, Berlin

I thought Maladroit was closer to the blue album and Pinkerton than the dreadful green album. Granted, it's nowhere near as good but still good in its own right."No matter how cold the winter, there's a springtime ahead."0 -

Way too short though.
