    zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Palm muting and cheesy lyrics. Maynard is a hype mongerer.

C'mon i don't care for it alot but the music is incredibly tight and well done.
    No one is Righteous.......
  • Yeah, it is ok at best. Sounds like Schism Pt. 2...also I don't really like how the lowered Maynard's vocals on it. I will buy the album though...there should be some killer songs.

its a damn good tool song, as usual it takes me a few listens to really get into tool, tho 2 things are confusing me, why are the vocals so low and what the hell has happened to his voice? its like he is wispering thru most of the song!!

With all due respect, Tool is the only reason Lollapalooza '97 was even worthwile. I went to the K.C. show - Korn didn't show and Prodigy freakin' closed the show.

With that said, I'm not sure why people try and compare PJ and Tool - 2 totally different sounds. Plus, PJ is MUCH more diverse. It's like comparing the Beatles (PJ) to the Beach Boys.
  • I heard the song. I didn't like it. I used to like Tool a lot but now I just think they're pretentious.

they've earned their respect...kinda hard to call them pretentious at this point...

i just dont like his vocals... if i didn't know Tool was suppose to be great etc.. id think it was just another shit band i hear on the radio

Wow, I think Maynard is an amazing singer. That is the biggest common link to the bands, both have singers that sound amazing, but sound nothing like any other singer. Both have awesome musicians around them. I think what draws PJ fans to Tool is the fact, they play completely differant music, but both are raw from the heart sounds. Both have emotion in what they sing, and that is hard to find these days. My wife thinks Eddie is the sexiest man alive, not because of his looks, but because of his passion. Ed and Maynard sing what they want to sing, not what they feel will move more CD's, I think PJ fans can see that.

Only the intro is like Schism, the rest doesn't even resemble it. And just for the record, shouldn't this be in the "other music" section?

I feel like the breakdown in the middle is pretty similar to the breakdown in the middle of Schism

Why are we talking about Tool here? Shouldnt you all go to the Tool board and talk about Tool there?

And since it was brought up I think they blow...

I'm kind of like that with tool too. They're great musicans and i listen to them for that. Tool fans do give every album holy praise but we're kind of like that with Pearl Jam. In my opinion they're a good band and I can't wait to hear this album.

I think you'll find the pretentious crap is spewed by certain fans, not the band. Sure they take their art seriously, but then any band worth their shit does. To say they are force feeding you pretentious crap, means you are looking for some "deep" message, and are in that way guilty of the pseudo intellectualising shit you're accusing other people of. Why can't you listen to the song and appreciate it for what it is, an accomplished song with exemplary musicianship.

I've been to my fair share of Tool concerts, and I never see the math-sters or braintrust that I see talking about them on the web. I only see knuckle-dragging, doorknob-humping retards.

Then again, I always end up seeing them in Baltimore or D.C. so that explains much.

adam jones, in the current guitar world says,"this record sounds so huge.thats because the vocals arent mixed way out front.when you mix the vocals out front,it crushes the force of the band behind them."
