I agree the White Stripes are not overrated and White is a great songwriter.

I also agree that Audioslave is very overrated. It's embarassing they can be mentioned in the same sentence as Soundgarden. I hate Rage and Audioslave isn't even as good musically as they were. Audioslave is a waste of talent.

The Shins, though they aren't getting raves much anymore, were always overrated. They had that great song from Garden State...and thats it. Pretty much every other Shins song is absolute trash.

Death Cab could be good in that Modest Mouse sort of way but instead they are boring.

    Ryan Adams is overrated.

The Beatles remain the most overrated band in the history of music.

Harsh statement but ultimately true. This will probably get flamed for heresy. I personally greatly prefer the Stones to the Beatles. They just weren't that great as musicians. Sure Paul and John wrote some great songs, but they definitely were lucky enough to bring a new sound to the U.S. End of story.

for pure argument sake, i would like to know EXACTLY why you think the beatles are overrated. your argument cannot include "i don't like them" as one of your reasons.

half the bands listed so far (if not more) i either don't like or have never heard a song by them, but i wouldn't go and say they are overrated.

all overrated means to me is that someone (your friend, a person on a message board, a magazine, etc) LOVES them and then when you heard them you think they suck.

i personally think overrated is a meaningless word.

sorry, but no, i think this guy music is way overrated, he's done nothing different than any other rap/hip hop artist. Although i'm not a connaisseur of the genre, but he's getting way too much recognition for what he does.

Kanye beside Hendrix, makes my head hurt :)

My first thought was Green Day. I agree with Coldplay and actually think they should be number 1.

I don't know if Audioslave is overrated but Soundgarden and Rage are both far superior to Audioslave. There music sounds too manufactured to me and really lacks the energy of the previous bands'.

The stones werent that great of musicians. I think John and George could hang with Keef and any of his counterparts in the Stones. Plus, the Beatles wrote better songs.

Both bands are overrated a bit, but when you virtually invent the modern blueprint for great bands, you deserve to be.

I don't know Kanye but any Hipper de Hop flop next to Hendrix and The beatles would be an insult to anyone's inlelligence.

Oh shit I keep forgettin' that I don't have the monopoly on good taste.

Sorry, it's OK to like Kanye, go right ahead.

  • Hip Hop was good in the 80's and early 90's, now it's embarrassing shit.

    top 5:

    5. Green Day- Rock Opera? I like the message of the title song on AI, but if this is rocks best (even funnier, punk, I suppose if Blink 182 is punk, then GD is) let's all off ourselves
    4. Audioslave- OMG! Cornell's talent is completely wasted, he seems so Hollywood now. For years I had to hear how his "devil voice" was so much better than Ed's, but look who is still relevant now. Soundgarden's gone, Rage is gone, what's left is lukewarm piss that needs payola to get airplay.
    3. Good Charlotte- like Ed said, it's a like a popsicle shoved up someones ass, these MTV kiddies think this is punk too.
    2. Dave Matthews Band- ANNOYING!!! your not the Dead, or Phish, or anyone, your tone is painful, and every song is the same.
    1. Coldplay- horrible. THe funny part is, they could be good, if they weren't so whiny. Martin's voice has a chance, but too nasal, and way too SOFTROCKY.
