Low E stays the same (the bass string)
A one step up to B
D down to the same B
    G half a step down to F#
    B stays the same
high E down to the same B

It'll come with practice and with listening to songs that are in these keys.
Red House by Jimi Hendrix is in B, and if you can hear that in your head and hum it, you can tune your string to it. F# is the same key as if you had your guitar in DADGAD and put a capo on the fourth fret. If you can remember and hum that key also, you can do it too.

Neither do I, but a small chromatic tuner can do miracles. They don't have to cost much.

the bass note in the better man intro is f# (well the first is eHf#, but the second riff is)

Oasis-Supersonic, the intro is an f#

Get a tuner though, i dont know how else to help you. even one with just the 5 notes on the guitar can be manipulated to get alternate tunings

    Hello there, Pearlwax....

Have you a guitar handy? Now, try this. Tune your guitar to DADGAD.

    Try these shapes:

    0 0 0 2 0 0

    0 0 4 2 0 0

    2 2 0 0 0 2

    0 5 4 0 0 0

    5 5 5 4 0 0

    7 7 7 6 0 0

    9 9 9 7 0 0

    10 10 10 9 0 0

    12 12 12 11 0 0

    0 5 7 7 0 0

    0 10 12 12 0 0

There are some chords for you to start with. I haven't given you them in any progression, but you can configure them as you like.

    Good luck!

I might add, that was my very first post on this board.
