I have a Sonor Force 2001 kit set up as a 4-piece. 20" x 18" kick, 10" x 8" rack tom, 14" x 16" floor tom, 14" x 5.5" wood snare, 14" hats, 16" and 18" crashes, 20" ride. Bought it as a package deal for $1300. My A guitar cost me $700, my amp cost $400, and my cabinet cost $300. Total guitar rig: $1400. My bass cost me $200, amp cost $175, cab cost $200. Total bass rig: $575. My bass rig kicks ass, by the way, I just bought stuff used when I found awesome deals.
Just for comparison....and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.0 -

I have been playing drums for 2 1/2 years. Currently, I play Yamaha drums (natural finish- kind of like my homage to Matt Cam), and Zildjian cymbals (Z Custom, A and A custom). I am also a proud owner of a DW 9000 single pedal (double chain). My snare drum of choice (for now, at least) is a Ludwig Supraphonic 5x14".0

I have that exact same Ludwig snare. I got it with a used crappy beginner's drumkit (Westbury drums). Anyways, that was the only decent drum that came with it, and I bet that the guy who sold it to me didn't realize how good it was because this thing is real old and the chrome finish is all flaking off. It's a nice drum though, but my snare of choice is a sweet birch Tama Starclassic 14"x5.5."
What type of Yamaha drums are those that you have (stage custum, recording custom, etc.) and what sizes? And while you're at it, what are the specifics to those cymbals too?0 -
It occurred to me that I didn't really give the specifics of my kit either. So for the record:
Ludwig Suprahponic 14"x5" snare
Tama Starclassic Performer:
14"x5" snare
22"x18" beast-of-a-bass-drum
12"x10" and 13"x11" toms
16"x16" floor tom
Zildjian cymbals:
14" K hi-hats
10" K splash
19" A Medium-thin crash (my favourite crash ever)
20" K ride
19" Z Medium crash
21" A sweet ride0 -
The specs: Yamaha Stage Custom Advantage, split lugs, natural finish, w/10", 12", 14", 16" toms, 17x22" bass, and a Ludwig Supraphonic 5x14" snare (the kit came w/a matching wood snare, but I prefer my Ludwig). Cymbals-all Zildjian- 14" A New Beat hi-hats, 21" A Sweet Ride, 17" A Medium Crash, 18" Z Custom Rock Crash, and a 10" A Custom Splash.0

I am a drummer as well, into Peter Criss, Phil Rudd from AC/DC when I was a youngster.
I'm a big Dave A. fan as far as cymbal work goes and really dig Jack's feel and ideas. All the way from ELEVEN..I was just listening to THUNK from ELEVEN. Get it...run out right now and get it....Ill wait.
Got it? Good.
The first track is NATURE WANTS TO KILL ME and it is out of this world.
Both Matt and Jack were on that record.
I play drums in a Pearl Jam tribute band here in the Los Angeles area so it keeps me busy.0 -
I'm a drummer. I play a Yamaha Stage Custom Fusion set. 10", 12", 14" toms, 14" steel snare, 22" bass. Play Zildjian cymabsl, 14" A Custom hats, 16" A Thin Crash, 20" K Custom Dry Ride, 8" A Custom Splash, 10" A Splash. Also have a 12" Wuhan China. Use Vic Firth Dave Weckl signature sticks. Yamaha Flying Dragon Double Pedal.0

Unless you have friends that play drums too and leave half their sets and equipment at your house! My friend and I are good enough at drums and guitar that we can switch at will whenever we run out of ideas. We could jam for days. One of my favorite things to do is just let a tape roll on record and get it all down. Many spontanious ideas have turned into structured songs."Sooner or later you'll bare your teeth"

Any of you drum folks have any experience with the Pearl Chad Smith sig snare?
I currently have a Pearl piccolo, steel shell, 13"x3", and the Sonor snare that came with my kit, a 14"x5.5" basswood shell. The piccolo is great, and I kinda like the Sonor, but I'm looking for a full-size that has a enough crack but a decent amount of body (to contrast with the piccolo)....and if you don't like it, you can suck on an egg.0 -

You do realize the post you were commenting about was made two and a half years ago?you couldn't swing if you were hangin' from a palm tree in a hurricane.0 -
i've been drumming for around 16-17 years, but i still have plenty to learn. i play a Roland V-Pro Series TD-20S. it is the most versatile drum kit you can imagine. the heads are way more comfortable (with better action) than an acoustic kit, plus the feature of adjustable volume fits well with my current living conditions. our band (3hree) plays mostly rock, but we tend to veer off into unknown and unchartered territories quite frequently. i also like to fiddle around on the keyboards as well. although i can't read music, surprisingly i have managed to sqeeze out some pretty nice compositions. everyone should try to get involved with an instrument, you may find it easier than you think.look into the eyes of the fallen.....you got to know there's another..another..another..another..way.0
