Montreal '05: The first time I heard PJ play "Man of the Hour" I started balling like a baby. Just hit me like a ton of bricks. I connected the lyrics to my Grandfather. It's moments like that when you realize how much you love the band, their music and the whole scene. Priceless.

Forget about me ~ Janove Ottensen.
Somewhere within the last year I guess.« One man's glory is another man's hell.
You’re on the outside, never bound by such a spell.
Together in the darkness, alone in the light.
I took it upon me to be yours, Timmy,
I’ll lead your angels and demons at play tonight......»0

I was in the freezer section of my supermarket last week, listening to Small Town on my iPod. Everything's fine, then I got to the part:
I just want to scream hello.
My god it's been so long, never dreamed you'd return.
But now here you are, and here I am.
And I started crying. Heard it hundreds of times, but it just struck me as very beautiful right there next to the frozen pizza."Things will just get better and better even though it
doesn't feel that way right now. That's the hopeful
 idea . . . Hope didn't get much applause . . .
 Hope! Hope is the underdog!"

was driving down an interstate with binaural on random. parting ways came on. dont know if i would call it crying, but i definitely got teary eyed. something about the music mixing with ed's vocals and lyrics touched me. the chords they hit during the verses are so powerful, and the repeated
"drifting away, drifting away..." is an unbelievable closing. great song, and a beautiful finish to a superb album.0

Hello my first post here. I don't know very much Pearl Jam, it was one of those bands my sister got into more than I did. But the thing that inspired me to come on here was that I decided to download some of their stuff, remembering it to be good. The first track I got was "rear view mirror", and cried for about half an hour. I have no idea why, but it is a powerful song, and it reminds me of home and the people I miss a lot. And the lyrics too are relevant, not in any specific way, but the over all theme I can identify with.
The other worst songs for making me basically greet like a bairn would be "New Dawn Fades" by Joy Division and "Some Kind of Stranger" by Sisters of Mercy.0

New Dawn Fades is seriously sad. have you heard John Frusciante's cover? he did it live a few times. Its pretty good.redbutterfly0 wrote:The other worst songs for making me basically greet like a bairn would be "New Dawn Fades" by Joy Division and "Some Kind of Stranger" by Sisters of Mercy."I remember one night at Muzdalifa with nothing but the sky overhead, I lay awake amid sleeping Muslim brothers and I learned that pilgrims from every land — every colour, and class, and rank; high officials and the beggar alike — all snored in the same language"0

            Earlier today.
I was watching Sad aol sessions and I had the lyrics in front of me...made me cry. Going into a very difficult time of year for me, and that song hits a lot of nerves."Rock and roll is something that can't be quantified, sometimes it's not even something you hear, but FEEL!" - Bob Lefsetz0

When I suddenly released how much Better Man resembles my sisters situation. I really want to see her happy, but she's stuck in a situation of which she will not be able to free herself for some time....bringing tears to my eyes right now..
The lyrics seem like her thoughts, but the music resembles my feelings of frustration *shaking head*.
One hand I am thinking 'Everyone has its own path to walk on' on the other hand I just want to shake her and tell her that she truly deserves a 'better man'!!!Why not be mediocre and be the best at it that you can be?0

I always thought Eddie wrote Better Man for me....I was just like your sister, I knew I deserved better , I knew that no one should be treated the way he treated me but i thought i loved him..my 2 sisters would beg me to leave him, they thought he would really hurt me and no matter what they said, how much they cried ,i didn't do it. It took me a long time to realize that i did deserve better and no matter what anyone said I had to do it for me...and i finally didKushikushun wrote:When I suddenly released how much Better Man resembles my sisters situation. Wow, thank you for this response...! I know that is the only way to go, so I will wait and will be there for her no matter what happens or what she decides. If you have any advice, please let me know.
