OHMYGOD I baked almond-apricot bars with chocolate ganache that I brought into work. They were stellar this morning until i carried the tins with the covers still on upside down accidentally - - - then they were mush. Staff where i work ate them anyway, so that's good. I've been trying the King Arthur Flour Cookie Book and I have had great results. I'm trying to figure out if any of the songs/bandmembers are fudgy brownies, cakey brownies or fudgy/cakey brownies (which is the best recipe.) I just don't think they're brownies.

So far the songs are all steamed vegetables, and I don't steam vegetables much. I have to listen more for the steamed vegetables to graduate to full fledged decadent dessert ;)

    Girl your too funny!!!:D
Have the steamed Veggie's turned to grilled yet?
I would have to go with Fudgy Bownies!!!!

Oh yeah the music...Soooo much love for Inside Job...totally takes me on a trip:o I think I will pout like a five year old if I don't hear it live!!!:(
If I could be anything in the world I would be your teardrop...I would be born in your eyes, live on your cheeks, and die on your lips.

I AM ADICITED TO THIS ED TLIKE A JUNKIE IS TO HERION!!!!!!!!!
BET YA THE GUYS WOULD LOVE TO HEAR AND READ THIS... HA..HA...HAAAAAAAA

    CONSUMPTION/CONSUMMATE

I LOVE PEARL JAM, MORE THAN LIFE ITSELF,.... OOOO,IT'S SO HARD TO
EXPLAIN..BUT I JUST AN NOT CONTAIN..THESE FEELINGS ANYMORE!
I KNOW TRY, YET STILL ITS SO FUCKING TOUGH TO EXCALIM ALL OF MY FEELINGS AND EMOTIONS.
    TRY ANYWAY...TRIED AND TRUE
    TRY ANGAIN!!!! TIED AND TRUE..
    THIS CONSITITUENCY
    THE LIFE.... IN ME
    STRUGGLES
TOUCHING MY SOUL AND HAVING THEM BARING IT ALL
    IT WORTH THE SACIFICE..
    LIFE OR DEATH
I'LL TAKE ON IT ALL.. EVEN IF I DO FALL
LIKE AN ANGEL FROM THE HIGHEST SKIES
I never meant to hurt you, mi diablo, mi amigo, but I've built up so much character I have an alter ego. I have to make a clean break & I have to do it quick because the pain you give me babe would make Cal Ripken call in sick!!!
  • The whole song has meaning for me. It literally changed my thinking and way of life. "I can't be free with what's locked inside of me....." "All the rusted signs we ignore throughout our lives, choosing the shiney ones instead." "I let go of the rope, thinking that's what held me back, and in time I've realized it's now wrapped around my neck." I think anyone who has ever been mixed up, lonely, confused, ect.. should listen to this song.

what do you guys think "come back" is about? do you think it's about a break up, or do you think (in following a theme of many of the songs on the album) it's about someone going away to war? like some of lyrics being about remaining true while you're gone and that going off to war is the only way you would leave. thoughts???

i dont quite know what its about for ed, but for me i take it as losing a loved one, very powerful stuff
  • come back is just a wonderful experience for me.

the song is so beautiful - its flawless really, the guitar solo at the end gives me goosebumps.. watching it live in toronto (5/9) was an amazing thing.

Come Back and Inside Job are amazing played live.
I had seats way up in 307 level, in Toronto may 9/06 and looking out
at the audience reacting to these songs was incredible.
Great feeling from Mr. Mike and Mr. ED.
Sing a long was fun at the end of Come Back.
Both songs are flawless masterpieces. The whole album feels pure and raw!

"But Id have to say my favorite song is "Army Reserve", lyrics are powerful and the music is perfect. I think this is the hidden gem of "Pearl Jam".[/quote]

What is the meaning behind this:
    I'm not blind
    I can see it coming
    Looks like lightning
    In my child's eye

    I'm not frantic
    I can feel it coming
    Violently shakes
    My body

    Also in the end:

    "I'm not frantic
    I can feel it coming
    Darling you'll save me
    If you save yourself"

Get the rest of the song but I am getting mixed ideas...please inform?

I have this problem w/ Come Back where I can't seem to make it all the way through the song w/out getting choked up. I don't think it's going away so I may need professional help. As for Inside Job...I just wasn't diggin it until I saw them play it live tonight in Hartford. It's incredible live and the album version doesn't give the tune the justice it deserves IMO.
  • When i first heard comeback, I wanted to raise a lighter right then and there. It's got the same cry or deep emotion as Black but different. I would like to hear this live right before YLB.
  • Anyone else think the particular words Eddie uses in come back seems to sound like hes referring to a love one who died more so then someone who just left. In a war perhaps?

I cannot hear Come Back without crying.
I end up with tears streaming down my face every time.

I've been listening to these two tracks for a couple of days now because they seem to either give me hope or at least asuage my pain a little. I think the lyrics are about calling out for higher meaning/guidance, but also knowing that all the power we need comes from within ourselves. It was brilliant to end the album with them back-to-back. I'm glad to see that both of these slow, brooding tunes have been included in set lists lately. Can't wait for the L.A. shows.

both songs are great but there is something about Come Back that stands out....it hits a emotional nerve and everytime i hear it my mind does a flash back of all the people ive lost both in life and relationships (well ones that meant something to me)

"well if i dont fall apart, will my memories remain clear" ---brilliant part of the song!!!

To me it sounds like a lover who has died.

    what it means to me

even if you can't "change" the "world" (your own personal world, the world you are in, the world in general, etc)
u STILL CAN really bring CHANGE... change of HEART, change of perspective.
"life comes from within YOUR heart and DESIRE"
    it's a Positive INTROspection on one's soul.

    how i CHOOSE to FEEL,
    is HOW i am.

    your FOCUS, determines YOUR "reality"
Had my eyes peeled both wide open, and I got a glimpse
Of my innocence... got back my inner sense...

I love both songs, but "Come Back" is so sad! I cry every time I listen to this one. It just seems like a song full of longing. I seriously cannot listen to this song in public.
How dark a woe! yet how sublime a hope!
How silently serene a sea of pride!
How daring an ambition! yet how deep--
How fathomless a capacity for love!
