I love both songs, but "Come Back" is so sad! I cry every time I listen to this one. It just seems like a song full of longing. I seriously cannot listen to this song in public.

I thought come back was about a lover who died, also. After Eddie's intro last night it could still be, but anyone think it's just about a break up?

I dont know..it seems to me more like someone has died.
He said last night that its about someone who's gone
and now its about 2 months later...I took it that it was about
a person had passed away, something I know way too
much about recently, and this song really hit me. Esp
when he added that "2 months later..." ugh...killed me.
  • hi my name's noemi, it's my first time here, i write from italy so sorry if you can't understand what i say... but i have to explain one thing about the song "come back".
I have read an interviewabout eddie and one question was about come back... eddie said that he wrote this song for his friend (the guitarist of Ramones, Johnny Ramone) who died in 2004....
for me and for what appened to my family last month, this songs means a lot... i wanna thank the band for their songs.... they are "superlativi"!!!!!!!!!!

    bye

    what it means to me

even if you can't "change" the "world" (your own personal world, the world you are in, the world in general, etc)
u STILL CAN really bring CHANGE... change of HEART, change of perspective.
"life comes from within YOUR heart and DESIRE"
    it's a Positive INTROspection on one's soul.

    how i CHOOSE to FEEL,
    is HOW i am.

    your FOCUS, determines YOUR "reality"

I think you got it right. I read an interview where Mike said he wrote the song thinking about his experience with Crohn's (something that can't really be changed, just has to be dealt with).

They are both incredible. The first time I heard Comeback I loved it. I didn't even realize the depth of Inside Job until I read the lyrics...then I was hooked on that one too :)
"Oh dear dad, can you see me now? I am myself, like you somehow."

Surely I'm not the only one that thinks the lyrics to 'Inside Job' are cheesy?
drivingrl: "Will I ever get to meet Gwen Stefani?"
kevinbeetle: "Yes. When her career washes up and her and Gavin move to Galveston, you will meet her at Hot Topic shopping for a Japanese cheerleader outfit.

    Next!"

Had my eyes peeled both wide open, and I got a glimpse
Of my innocence... got back my inner sense...

love the intro to inside job
  • Been very emotional lately...so each time I hear "Inside Job" and "Come Back", I cry. Absolutely love these two, although right now "Army Reserve" is my favorite. The whole damn album is amazing...cannot stop listening to it!

hopefuly Come Back replaces Last Kiss on setlists.
It has that 50's feel ...

    ;)

I can't stop listening to "Pearl Jam" in general.
It is superlative, beautiful, and filled to the top with love!

    :D:D:D

so do I... my friend so do I... not only is it NOT a cover, it's a way better song. We get to actually feel and understand how Eddie is feeling.
With "Last Kiss" he puts a lot of passion in to it and breathes it a new life, his version is much better than the original.
"The money flew down and stole my cracker!"

"Every time I go to the doctors I get a jacket, a straight one. It makes me feel special because I get to hug myself."

I am myself like you somehow.
I'll wait up in the dark for you to speak to me.
How I've opened up. Release me.

If this song was a person, I'd make love to it!
I know that's crazy of me to say, yet look at my signature... it explains it all.

Wow this is the 1st song I've ever felt so passionate about!!!!!!
