Reading the first page of this thread, it reads as embarrassing
I'm not embarrassed in any way about my opinion on this issue.  Of course we always blow right by reasonable and go to dumb extremes, so I imagine this will happen here as well.
    Whats the dumb extreme here?
They could very likely do what you say and eliminate any protections for transgendered and imploy some very awful "tests" for women to be able to compete.

What's really sad is how this admin uses the transgender community as a punching bag.

they are the smallest community with the least chance to fight back.

There's the rub. Personally, I do think there is an issue with biological males physically competing against biological females. However, the way the issue has been conflated, as though it's a huge problem, and being used as a massive dig whistle for bigots, FAR outweighs any kind of benefit such laws might bring to school-aged sport. If the GOP weren't such massive, disgusting, manipulative bigots, perhaps the issue could have somehow been handled in a more productive and sensitive way.

what fun is that though? gop needs to grandstand on every win they get even if it hurts several hundred people.

Speaking as a trans woman I have mixed feelings about the issue. I play volleyball in a fun league and when I came out about a month ago I was kinda worried how everyone would react and how it would be handled would I "play" the guy part or female part while playing. I personally think it would be unfair if I played the female role only because I pretty much just started my transition. Now maybe in a few more years, but it's hard to say. I'm sure there are women that are better than me. Maybe take on a case to case basis?

I remember watching a video about this one trans basketball player, Kayla Ward, that wanted to play with the women but couldn't. Her estrogen was too low or her testosterone was too high or something stupid like that. She looked very femme and passable.

    congratulations on your transition.

i think a case by case basis would be fair, but then there are so few trans kids playing sports in small communities where there are not enough of them to field a full team. i don't have an issue with them playing together on the same team or in the same league. i just hate that this is going to hurt the ones that have no other real options to participate.

the galling thing to me is that republicans accuse people of transitioning solely to participate in a sport. to participate and get an advantage. i would think that there are a lot more factors to consider prior to transitioning but i will never understand the average republican brain and how it functions.

or let the individual organizations decide how they want to manage the issue. No reason for the government to legislate.

I'm sure I've told this story before but in roughly 2009-2009 my daughter was on a travel soccer team. The goalie (who has now transitioned to male) was a tall awkward girl that was a pretty average goalie.

At half time of one game a father from the opposing team went to the ref and was demanding that the refs verify that she was a female. It was so fucking awful. She was tomboyish but was clearly female.

The best part of the story is that it didn't bother her at all but what a horrible experience.

gotta love it when a bunch of white men trying to protect women's sports are the same white men saying women's sports are terrible.
You ever try watching a WNBA game? or

Gotta love it when white men are trying to defend the opposite, lol.

I actually prefer the WNBA. They play fewer games so they fight for every win.

I’ve said the same. The boys during playoffs is excellent, but regular season womens game are more fun to watch. They move the ball around more and play defense.

Agreed. It is still odd to watch the Fever and compare the crowds to the Pacers. Not even close.

I tried to watch women’s ball more over the last 4 years. In the end…I just don’t enjoy it as much. College is better than wnba by a mile though (same with men’s).

so while ill still check out a women’s game for a bit, I never watch more than a quarter

But I prefer women’s gymnastics and volleyball by a lot.

thanks. Yeah it would be difficult to do on a case by case basis. I don't even know how they would figure it out.

Not sure what part of it is intriguing? Defense is what you call that?

The high school level up to the professional level is lateral.  There is no major jump in athleticism.  They pass, shoot outside shots and do layups.  It is the same game.

I don't like pissing on something that is positive for young women but it is a terrible product.  I also find the current NBAs product of pass, pass, shoot the 3, brick, to be terrible also.
