    ALTNATPARKSERVICE adbook post

Senator Mike Lee has introduced a last-minute amendment to the Wildfire Prevention Act that would eliminate the 2001 Roadless Rule, stripping protections from roughly 60 million acres of national forest land. This is an attempt to sneak a major public lands policy change through before most Americans even hear about it. There has been little public attention given to a proposal that could have significant impacts on national forests, wildlife habitat, recreation, Tribal interests, and local communities across the country. The Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee is scheduled to consider the amendment today at 10:00 AM Eastern.

U.S. Sen. Tim Sheehy, who previously ran a company that provides aircraft for fighting wildfires, has proposed ending Forest Service inspections of those aircraft. One of the company’s aircraft failed an inspection because of a crack in its wing.

    meidastouch adbook post

BREAKING: The Senate has APPROVED a War Powers Act resolution directing Donald Trump to withdraw U.S. armed forces from hostilities against Iran, with FOUR Republican senators breaking ranks to support the measure.

The resolution passed 50-48 after Sens. Rand Paul, Susan Collins, Lisa Murkowski, and Bill Cassidy joined Democrats in voting yes. It follows House passage earlier this month, where four Republicans also sided with Democrats.

The measure, brought by Sen. Tim Kaine under the 1973 War Powers Act, directs Trump to remove U.S. forces from hostilities against Iran except where necessary to protect U.S. personnel or allies from imminent attack. While it does not have the force of law and does not require Trump's signature, it represents a bipartisan rebuke of further military escalation.

The vote comes just two days after Trump threatened to bomb Iran again if it did not rein in militant proxies in Lebanon, saying the U.S. would strike "only harder." Iranian state media has claimed those remarks violated the memorandum of understanding between the two countries.

One Democrat, John Fetterman, voted against the resolution, while two Republican senators, Sens. David McCormick (R-Pa.) and Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), missed the vote.

Resolution. carries no statutory authority as such stays within The Capitol.  It does however serve notice that enough is enough. now to see how or if they follow through. but given it was really a D thing ...

    WOSU Public Media adbook post

Roughly an hour before President Trump was set to sign bipartisan housing legislation on Capitol Hill alongside the Republican leaders of both chambers, he imploded the plan in a social media post, denying his party a key affordability-focused win to promote ahead of the midterms. Trump wrote in the post on Wednesday that he would not sign the legislation until Congress passed the strict voter ID law he has been pushing for months, the Save America Act.
