Man, such a sad tragedy.
Man falls to his death at Goose show in Madison Square GardenThe band have said they are "deeply saddened and heartbroken to learn of the tragic event" at the show on Saturday night (June 20)ByMax Pilley21st June 2026Rick Mitarotonda of Goose at the Ryman Auditorium on March 30, 2023 in Nashville, Tennessee. (Photo by Jason Kempin/Getty Images)A 51-year-old man has fallen to his death during a Goose show at New York’s Madison Square Garden. The news was confirmed by a NYPD statement to the New York Post, in which they confirmed that the man was found “unconscious and unresponsive” after a fall from an “elevated position” in the venue at approximately 9:51pm last night (June 20).Emergency services responded to a 911 call and the man was taken to Bellevue Hospital in New York City, where he was pronounced dead. The man has not been named, and the incident remains under investigation. The Connecticut jam band Goose, made up of Rick Mitarotonda, Trevor Weeks, Peter Anspach and Cotter Ellis, were headlining the venue and have issued a statement which read: “We are deeply saddened and heartbroken to learn of the tragic event that occurred at tonight’s show. We extend our deepest sympathy to everyone affected. Thank you to the emergency personnel and venue staff who stepped in with care and support.”Goose’s set was unaffected by the accident, with their full set being streamed live on Amazon Music, although as reported by Rolling Stone, witnesses have stated that seven rows of the lower section of Madison Square Garden were cordoned off by authorities.A man fell to his death at one of Oasis’ Live ‘25 shows in London’s Wembley Stadium last August. Police later concluded that 45-year-old Lee Claydon’s death was the result of a “tragic accident” and they did not suspect any “third party involvement” in the incident.Clayton fell from the upper tier balcony during the fireworks display at the end of the finale ‘Champagne Supernova’, and while he was found to have alcohol in his system, this was “normal for any of the people attending” the gig.0 -
I went to see them Friday night and they did not disappoint.
We were going to go Saturday too but decided not to. After hearing about what happened I'm glad we didn't go.
