I think last night bodes well for my VGK. the first two carolina goals were the result of lazy VGK passes and the third came off a flukey faceoff. they can clean that up.
I think you're right. Of course, I want it to go 7 games, but they've been a completely different team since the Torts hire. The Canes' man-to-man defense just won't hold up to Vegas over 7 games.

BTW - do you really think Marner meant to block that shot at the end of the game? It looked like he was trying to get out of the way to me!

^^^ correction: carolina’s 4th goal came off a flukey faceoff.

you’re probably right about Marner altho I think Torts demands you sacrifice your body.

    Yes, it is.

It did suck that such an unlucky/lucky bounce decided the game but that is Hockey sometimes.

About the fifth time that has happened in the playoffs . Awful way to end that classic last night

Vegas looked lost after the Karlsson injury ... it doesn't sound like he will be back due to the hit he took and comments made by Torts after the game.

Jordan Stall is looking at the Conn Smythe if Carolina wins ... in my mind he is one of the young pups but now has 2 decades in the NHL.  PJ 20 was only a few years ago, right?

Loved Staal when he was a Penguin, sad to see him go but have always appreciated him. Hope he captains the Jerks to a Cup.

bummed that VGK lost but the better team won. the better coach. the better goalie (in the end). I could do some coulda woulda (injuries, goal tending) but it wasn’t meant to be. carolina is a really good, well coached team. VGK was out of gas at the end and carolina had a lot to do with that. the tortarella magic disappeared in the end, unless you’re a fan of a coach staring into the rafters.

I’m happy for bussi. I was getting real tired when “freddie” andersen was getting all the slurpage in the early rounds, while facing offensively challenged teams. playoff freddie has never been anything special. carter hart sucked in the final (altho he was decent last night). you need a hot goalie to win the cup. adin hill was stellar in 2023. hart maybe should have been pulled after the 3 goals in 39 seconds debacle in game 3.

there are many teams I like a lot less than carolina. they have a few guys I don’t care for (aho) but no true assholes that I know of. I’m just bummed the only sport left to watch is regular season baseball.

Agreed. How can you not like any of the Staal brothers and Jordan becoming the oldest Conn Smythe winner? And to see Rod lift the cup 20 years later was special. It's been a great season for the NHL.

I wish the team would all skate around the rink together while passing the Cup like the "old days". And the damn photographers need to get out of the way!

Pulling Andersen for Bussi was a great move!

Andersen was hurt. BrindA'mour said that in an interview after the game.

Congrats to the Canes and BrindA'mour especially.

I imagine everyone’s a little hurt. That’s what sucks about going to the Final and losing…less recovery time, unlike F’me’s kings, who’ve been golfing for the past six weeks.

The Canes commentator Tripp Tracey was on the Spittin' Chiclets pod today. He went for a walk with Rod after game 3 and said Rod was going to start Bussi regardless of the Anderson injury.

It was definitely the right move, and a ballsy one if Anderson had been cleared to play. But that doesn't take away from Anderson's performance in the first 3 rounds.

In the end there can be only one, Wobert.
Vegas gets the same prize as the Avs, Oil,  Kings, and whomever else.

    I loathe Eric Staal.

I completely agree about the cup ceremony.  It just seems like it is a series of dull individual photo opportunities with the cup.  It was better, more wholesome, and natural when they all skated around with it, passing it.

Hearing the color commentator explain this contrived significance of who gets the cup after the captain every season since the Outdoor Life Network is tiresome and predictable.  Feels like I am watching EA sports canned Stanley Cup presentation.

Torts out. I’m not shocked. I have no idea who VGK will go after.

Oilers looking at Babcock? By all accounts, he’s a total asshole.
