It was the service rd off cross Bronx going back to LI after the Bronx zoo… I saw the smoke, pulled over and they took care of me like family 😇super nice and hospitable folks… had to wait 30 min til it was done and they carved one up and I went to town

Croatia loves pig too.. last summer I had it off the spit a few times… lotta flavor . They even can make a mofongo dish out of it… was $20 … I gave em $40 and said does this white Boy get a Hood pass? 😆 I love to mix it up with authentic people over authentic food…

I will drive 20 miles in the wrong direction to avoid the Cross Bronx LOL. I have not had whole hog in a LONG time. Best I ever had was actually in China. No idea how it was prepared.
I had no plans… it was on my way home, and I know going to Yankee games over the years there are dudes on the street in the Bronx cooking on the street… I had to stop, glad I did.

Yes. If I saw smoke by a rest stop I'd think someone lit a car on fire!

I have made that few times. It is great even on a gas grill. I did somehow inherit a dozen long metal skewers from when white folks made shishkebab. This dish is perfect for those. What are the side dishes?

I have some metal ones as well, but I like trying to fool myself that I'm in SE Asia.

Those are corn quarters in the foil.

Last night I made homemade shredded beef chile colorado, homemade refried beans, and homemade Mexican rice. Instant Pot FTW.

Came out great. This recipe calls for vanilla bean (which i didn't have, but subbed some vanilla paste i had. Just adds a little unknown flavor depth. Will buy a bean for my next batch
Plan on picking blueberries in July. Will see.

Love strawberry rhubarb pie. Let us know how you make it.
Have 8 + cups of rhubarb in the freezer waiting for something different if anyone has a suggestion.

Inspired by Loujoe. Today we went to the farmers market and got stuff for strawberry rhubarb pie. My girlfriend mixed the dough. I did everything else.

Ha.  The olives were good food as well.
This is quite possibly the best martini vessel of all time tho.  Keeps it super cold

excellent. I might have to go buy one. I know a place...the jam has been great. Gave some away, mixed some in oatmeal. Crackers, croissant.

Read somewhere about roasting the strawberries 1st for pie filling. Makes sense. Awesome TJ!!
