Portnoy was out in Suffolk yesterday doing Pizza reviews.

He actually found 2 spots that he gave 8's to.
I can’t believe anyone takes his reviews seriously. His scores make no sense. His “scale” is nonsense. He likes one type and one type only of pizza. It’s like being a music reviewer but only liking one genre. Love what he’s done for small businesses but his reviews should be for entertainment purposes only.

I will say this.  He is right about Long Island pizza though.  The pizza places mimic each other and are too floppy with not very good dough and sauce. Sometimes the dough is undercooked and spongy.

Long Island pizza is really bad once you realize what a good slice tastes like.

There are good places on LI it's just not a bunch of them.

It is amazing how much crappy pizza there is in NY. It is not just LI. I have one place making coal fired pies (and they are expensive) and across the street is another shitty corporate pizza place putting pies on the conveyor belt. Their dough sucks, and their pizza is not good. I do not need another place selling bad pizza with domestic prosciutto and arugula.

Reading some of this is like asking a fuckin Kia engineer to explain naturally aspirated Porsche Engines vs Turbos

    Go to the fuckin source

    small… area… Mediterranean/adriatic/ wood fired… that’s pizza

Portnoy n Kraft should stick to …. I’d rather not finish my sentence, I know Bob has his Death Star under Gillette Stadium… wouldn’t wanna give him a hard on from my post and not have a sleazy masseuse relieve him

stay in your fuckin lane of being a creep… leave the pizza for the true experts

I give Portnoy some credit. He knows that the best pizza comes from Connecticut. 100% true. And it is not all New Haven.

I was a fat kid from the Northeast. And we know pizza. Dave's reviews are decent. I do not speak to his politics, sports or other platforms. At least he actually does something, unlike the media folks you speak of. Theo Von? I do not dislike him but acts like a hick to get viewers.

Managed to get a table at Spacca Napoli again for their final 25% off late night promotion. Tried a couple more of their top shelf pies with the discount. Outstanding once again. The quality of ingredients they’re using is insane.

The Alla Facciazza: house-made arugula pesto base, porcini mushrooms, imported 18-month cured prosciutto di Parma, shaved parmigiano reggiano, toasted pistachios, fior di latte mozzarella, truffle oil.

    The Cappello di San Gennaro:
Their 10 year anniversary feature. A hat shaped pizza with 2 sides. The top is mild with a light zucchini & mint cream sauce, fried thin zucchini, basil & cheese. The bottom is a folded over crust that eats like a calzone; stuffed with marinara, ricotta and salamis.

My favorite square slices in all of Pittsburgh. These are cold slices to go. I toast them up when I get home.

Pizza steel is a game changer for homemade pizza. Congratulations on your new purchase. Those look great.

Tried MOTO pizza for the first time at the Mariners game yesterday afternoon. Wow did it ever live up to the hype. Odd pizza as their slogan says but I’m still thinking about how good it was.
“The Mr Pig” - Lechon kawali, pork sausage, onion, MOTO cheese blend, parmesan, topped with tomato sauce, calamansi lime sauce and MR PIG sauce.

MOTO is definitely Detroit style, but I know for fact that they use a sourdough starter for the dough. In their locations not inside the park, their pizzas are twice the size. If you ever come back for another Mariners game, their newest location is just a few blocks north of Lumen Field on 2nd. Easily walkable, and it’s cheaper than the ballpark. My favorite is called the Kiss’d. It’s pepperoni, sausage, and hot honey.

Just saw a piece on tv about Potassium Sorbate. Apparently it's an additive they use for the dough.

Maybe this is why some pizzas aren't as good?

Add Chris Carlin to that list.  He's been on a rant about pizzas lately. Can't stand his voice...

We’re back for another game in 3 weeks and definitely planning to hit one of their restaurants! Either the one you mentioned or West Seattle if we decide to visit East Street before the game.

I really like the breakfasts at the cafe in Easy Street. Good food, and I don’t think you’ll find a more affordable breakfast in town. My girlfriend and I often make the trip to do get a bite and do some early morning record shopping

One of my buddies has really gotten into making homemade pizzas. It’s kind of become his passion. He recently got a propane pizza oven and has been cooking away, trying to perfect his own recipes. He has recently started making them to freeze. The other night he brought me one to taste test for him and give him honest feedback. Honestly, it was really good. I could’ve eaten another easily.

Going to a Mariners game tonight. Hit up MOTO pizza in Pioneer Square. I got the Beef Adobo. You’ve got cheese, beef adobo, pickled red cabbage, kimchi, and a kimchi ranch drizzle. This was fantastic.
