I never really liked him either. That was the start of ESPN hyperbole.Wobbie said:Get_Right said:Sports Center has been unwatchable for decades, even when Stuart Scott was there.
don't hate me, but I never really loved stuart scott. that said, he was better than 90% of the "talent" they currently have. ESPN talks to a few listenable guests but their anchors pretty much uniformly suck.0 -
I was thinking along the lines of Sports Center.markymark550 said:

ESPN got rid of Ryan Clark? That is one guy I really liked...0

He was awful. Getting rid of Karl Ravich is terrible. Putting all their money into Stephen A Smith and Pat McAfee. I would like to know the demographics of people who like those two morons.tempo_n_groove said:ESPN got rid of Ryan Clark? That is one guy I really liked...0 -
Not just got rid of him, but did it while he was in the middle of a live broadcasttempo_n_groove said:ESPN got rid of Ryan Clark? That is one guy I really liked...
ESPN reportedly lays off analyst Ryan Clark during broadcast of 'NFL Live' - Yahoo Sports

I couldn't stand Ravitch. I couldn't watch any baseball games w the volume on if he was commentating.pjhawks said:

I agree w McAfee and Stephen A. But guess what? Those are the two that get the ratings. ESPN made a play on Stephen A and to do more with him a few years ago. I do like when he discusses hoops w other former players because it is palatable but if he is on first take or something like that I can't stand it.
McAfee I just don't get. I try watching him and just don't get why people gravitate to him. It must be generational...
Didn't like Ryan Clark huh?0 -

He was a race baiter with terrible takes. Now maybe that persona was perpetuated by espn so we will see how he is moving forward.tempo_n_groove said:

Didn't like Ryan Clark huh?ESPN used to be about sports and now it’s just entertainment. I don’t trust any of their opinions because it’s all manufactured for views.Post edited by pjhawks on0 -
I have not watched ESPN in many years, other than the years they had Formula One races. I even cancelled it from my cable subscription. I could not care less about who they keep or fire.0

I couldn't stand Ravitch on baseball announcing either. I always would say: "Why does ESPN let him leave Bristol." He was ok in the Studio for Baseball Tonight.tempo_n_groove said:

I've only heard McAfee in very small doses and that was enough for me.
Stephen A wouldn't be bad if he toned his shit down because he does have some good sources when it comes to Hoops, because he was a writer for Hoops for years.
I didn't really see enough of Ryan Clark.0 -
The Portnoy piece? Or the RG3 comment? Is that where you got the race baiting?pjhawks said:

I've never heard anything bad come from him. But eh, I get how a comment or two could rub u the wrong way. I'll allow it.
ESPN had to follow FOX for the Entertainment purposes. They totally play into the devils advocate type of commentary on their shows now. I miss the old days of pundits actually discussing sports.0 -
Bomani Jones and Jemele Hill I could see letting go.
I just saw they let go Bart Scott and Cam Newton? Dammmmmmm. I really enjoyed them both.
Bart was on the local radio show here and was entertaining as hell. Same w Newton. I liked the way he brought things. Kind of like a Superstar Billy Graham.Post edited by tempo_n_groove on0 -
