Make it happen, that sounds like good time with the youngster.
No fishing trip this spring break (next week) with my family but have a trip scheduled about a month out.
    Been missing it!

That trout is beautiful! Congrats on a nice catch.
Rob, go fishing with that kid!  I'm getting the itch to wet a line!
I'll ride the wave where it takes me......

Fantastic & Beautiful! Thanks for posting. Was thinking about getting out today, (some no kill areas have no closed season) but did some gardening instead.
Our season. Opens i think 2nd weekend in April. I usually don't go for a while. Was thinking about eating some of those stocked fish. I just don't like to kill things. And I have to catch them 1st!!

My local stream used to be single hook artificial lures and flies only with a limit of one trout over 14". They changed the regs to artificial lures and flies and a three trout limit. That stream will be empty by the end of May. Reality is that most streams near a city ( 50 miles or less) and even some of those farther away are "put and take" fisheries. The hatchery puts them in and they get taken out. I would not feel bad about keeping a stockie. Your license fee helped pay for it.

I haven't been fishing in forever.

For years, just about all the men in my extended family would charter a boat and go on a big fishing trip every year in Sandy Hook NJ.

We'd all sleep in someone's basement the night before and be at Dunkin Donuts at 5AM, so we could be on the water by 8, and we'd be out there all day.

I would typically fish next to my grandfather, and I wouldn't catch a single thing all day, and he would reel them in left and right lol.

New generation, new kids & grandkids, weather is getting warmer, might be time to resurrect this trip.
May your days be long, til kingdom come.

It was an interesting series. Very quirky. The Willem Dafoe episode is great.

Yes. Really oddball. I have the DVD and gave it to one of my fishing buddies. He was like WTF. Pretty sure he only made it a few minutes in. My other bud loved it. John Lurie is in a great movie 'down by law' with Tom waits  you prob know and saw it. If not...check it out

A hot second of fishing is better than no fishing.

True. I'm lucky to live close to a lot of good water.

    Thanks
Always happy to get a bite! Close. Morris. A quick drive to Sussex. Bass was pretty big. Kind of a camera trick. Maybe 1 1/2 pounds.
