How much longer ‘till they cave?Trump vows to not sign any new legislation until SAVE America act is passed
The president has threatened to not sign any new legislation into law until a key voter ID bill is passed on Capitol Hill.
On Truth Social, Trump said that lawmakers must pass the SAVE America act “immediately” as it “supersedes everything else”.
Trump added that he did not want the “watered down version” to advance. A reminder, the bill would require proof of citizenship at voter registration and significantly curtail mail-in voting, but is struggling to clear the Senate. The president, however, remained resolute on social media:

Airports see hours-long delays due to TSA shortages as Homeland Security shutdown shows no sign of ending
Lines at security checkpoints continued to stretch for hours at airports across the country Monday morning, as the partial government shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security continues.
The department, which oversees the Transportation Security Administration, posted photos of long lines on its social media pages, blaming Democrats for holding spring break travel “hostage for political points.”
Funding for the department lapsed in mid-February amid a standoff between Republicans and Democrats over federal immigration reform. With TSA workers set to miss their first paycheck this week, an increased number of them are taking unscheduled time off leading to long lines and delays.

ALTNATPARKSERVICE adbook post....Voting rights organizations filed suit today in federal court challenging Trump’s March 31 executive order targeting mail-in ballots his second attempt to seize control of elections after courts blocked a similar order last year.
The order, titled “Ensuring Citizen Verification and Integrity in Federal Elections,” directs DHS to compile lists of eligible voters from federal databases and instructs USPS to refuse to deliver ballots to anyone not on a federally approved enrollment list. It would also require states to submit their mail voter lists to USPS at least 60 days before each federal election.
Attorneys argue the order violates the constitutional separation of powers, commandeers USPS in violation of Congress’s postal statutes, and coerces states to alter their election laws in violation of the Tenth Amendment.
“The President lacks authority to issue such directives, and USPS and the other Defendants lack authority to carry them out,” wrote ACLU attorney Jessie Rossman on behalf of the plaintiffs.
The suit was filed in the U.S. District Court for the District of Massachusetts by the League of Women Voters, the Association of Americans Resident Overseas, and the U.S. Vote Foundation, among others. Separately, the Democratic National Committee, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries also filed a federal lawsuit in the District of Columbia, represented by prominent voting rights attorney Marc Elias.
If implemented, the order could disenfranchise millions of eligible voters particularly military members, overseas citizens, the elderly, recently naturalized citizens, and voters with disabilities who rely on mail voting._____________________________________SIGNATURE________________________________________________

Federal prosecutors in Chicago had their case collapse in open court and the reason is worth understanding. Four activists were facing federal charges for protesting outside an ICE processing facility in Broadview, Illinois last September.
They surrounded an immigration agent’s van during the demonstration. The government called it a felony conspiracy. A grand jury indicted them. The case was a week away from trial. Then the transcripts came out.
A prosecutor had been meeting privately with grand jurors outside of the formal proceedings. Jurors who disagreed with bringing charges were blocked from participating. Those two things, taken together, describe a grand jury that was being managed rather than allowed to function. The whole purpose of a grand jury is that ordinary citizens (not prosecutors) decide whether the evidence justifies putting someone on trial. What happened in this case was the opposite of that.
U.S. Attorney Andrew Boutros stood up in court Thursday and didn’t dispute any of it. He said the conduct was upsetting. He dropped all charges. The judge dismissed the case with prejudice, meaning it cannot be refiled, and raised the possibility of sanctions against the prosecutor’s office.
This is part of a pattern. In November, a federal judge in Virginia found that DOJ prosecutors made fundamental misstatements of law to the grand jury that indicted former FBI Director James Comey. One of the Broadview defendants, Kat Abughazaleh, is a Democratic congressional candidate. Her attorney said the case should never have been brought at all.
