rob_sheridanA look inside our home studio from @king5evening (a longtime staple of Seattle TV) showing the experimental practical VFX we made for @pearljam’s tour visuals, my analog glitch laboratory, and even a special appearance by iO. Thanks @saintbryantv for coming out to see our weird little world! Evening profiled me once before, back in 1998, for a very different reason some of you might know, so it was fun to circle back with them all these years later. You can find the full segment on their site. #pearljam #seattleart #seattleartist #concertvisuals #glitchart #glitchartist #nineinchnails #productiondesign

A couple of months ago I had the great opportunity to interview Director and Stage Visual Creator, @rob_sheridan for Wishlist Foundation’s interview series, “Candle of Thought.” As you all know, Rob created THE most epic backdrop for @pearljam on their recent #DarkMatter tour.I asked Rob about the behind-the-scenes process of creating so many of the visuals that complemented the songs that we all love so much. He revealed many exciting secrets about the process. The explanation of capturing Ed’s eye was one of my favorite stories!Check out the entire interview with Chrissie and Rob on the Wishlist Foundation’s YouTube channel at:or head to wishlistfoundation.org, under “News”or head to the direct link in our bio above.Rob has some larger “Setting Sun” prints for sale. Head on over to Rob-Sheridan.com to purchase your print of the band, with Ed’s eye as the backdrop, today! Partial proceeds from the stage art prints support the Vitalogy Foundation.

Two years ago today I was in Vegas late at night in a warehouse with @nimblist @imperialmonster @mcdonaldg @joybirdstudios @warmnfuzzy.tv @christopherhgrey running out first projection test for the @pearljam Dark Matter tour production. After two months of prepping and filming, I was eager to see some of our visuals on the actual screen material, with the actual projector, at the actual size it would be in arenas. It would be another month before we had the entire screen set up for production rehearsals, but thankfully @nimblist was able to set up this test with a portion of the screen. It was exhilarating to finally see the visuals we’d been working on at their intended scale, and a relief to discover that they translated extremely well to the projection surface. We left the quick one-night trip with a fresh wave of confidence and excitement that our experimental plan was working, and the show was going to be as beautiful as #PearlJam deserved for their first visual tour production in their 30+ year history.

Great seeing my friend @geoffwhitman at his book signing event @easystreetrecords for his new book of photography from @pearljam’s #DarkMatter tour! As #PearlJam’s official tour photographer, Geoff captured stunning live shots of the band throughout their 2024-2025 run, and they’re now collected in this big beautiful book REACT/RESPOND (with a sweet #RecordStoreDay 7” vinyl single!).
Of course, there are many fantastic shots of my visuals on stage behind the band, so I’m stoked to have such a nice tangible souvenir sitting on my coffee table* of one of the most inspiring projects I’ve ever worked on. For the band, the crew, and the millions of fans who were there, there’s just nothing like a book to hold in your hands and show people “look what I was a part of.” (my quick photos here don’t do the book justice, my dark office of a million colored lights from every angle is famously not an ideal place to accurately photograph an art book). Huge congrats to Geoff and the PJ team for putting such a cool release together!
*Aspirational. We don’t have a coffee table anymore, we have a 55lb 3 year old, the coffee table became a liability long ago; some day we’ll again have nice grown-up low glass surfaces adorned with books and art in our living room, but for the foreseeable future that prime real estate needs to be clear for wrestling mats and pillow forts.

It was a moment I’ll never forget 💜
Sitting in our room in #Sacramento, my eyes nearly bugged out of my head when I read this email from Taylor at @livenation: “You are approved for 2 Tickets + 1 Photo pass for @pearljam tonight at @golden1center.”
I immediately went down the beautiful wooden staircase inside the HI Sacramento Hostel – which is an immaculately refined 1885 mansion, complete with original Victorian details – to tell @danahaggith.
“We just got approved to cover Pearl Jam,” I told her. And for anyone who knows Dana Haggith, her natural and immediate response was, “Eeeeeee!”
Everything moved quickly the rest of that day, as I got my camera gear ready for the show and tried to mentally prepare to cover Pearl Jam in #California’s capital city.
The story I wrote from the show and the photos I snapped are included in the pages of ‘Issue Zero’ and truly was one of the main catalysts for wanting to put SWOMP in print. I felt moments like these needed more than simply being published online and shared on social media. It needed an “official” documentation. People needed to hold it in their hands and have the ability to feel the energy that, in this case, was palpable inside the Golden 1 Center as Pearl Jam played songs from their latest album Dark Matter for one of the first times.
An element of this Sacramento show that was unique from our perspective, was the new video display and art work included in the set, a first for Pearl Jam in 30-plus years.
The incredible art was mind blowing when we saw it for the first time.
Who was responsible for creating this visual masterpiece? @rob_sheridan – who is pictured beside @eddievedder on the cover of SWOMP Magazine ‘Issue Zero’!.
We caught up with Rob for an #interview and it’s featured inside the magazine, along with some stunning photos shared by Rob from the tour.
The only place to read this is in ‘Issue Zero’!
