Full road ban still in effect overnight. Emergency vehicles only. Our complex has still not been plowed because of the road ban. I could barely open our front door as there is a huge drift in front of the door. Schools closed today and tomorrow. Biggest blizzard in the 21 years we haved lived in Westchester and by far the harshest winter. My wife and son are stuck in London and cannot get a flight back to NYC until Wednesday. That is going to cost me $$$$. And it is cold here in NY! Good news is that more snow is expected Wednesday and Thursday! Got to love the Northeast! That first 60 degree day is going to be amazing.

I saw the plows come by my street around 5 last night which proceeded to push snow across the front of my driveway! The mound was about 4 feet thick by 3 feet tall and 10 feet across luckily my neighbor saw it and came by with his snow blower to help me out! It would of taken me 3 hours to clear it by myself 🥵

Always a good morning Speedy! Good morning!

The road ban was lifted at midnight. They finally came through about an hour ago. They are still shoveling the walkways. This too shall pass. Luckily we have nowhere we need to be today and I will probably shovel off my decks which shouldn't be too bad except for the top deck which is small and not sure if I can throw the snow far enough to avoid our lower deck. First world problems! We are good.

Stay home, make some homemade soup, look out the window at the snow piles? That really isn't that awful. I guess.

If it were happening to me? While everyone was running to the stores to buy milk, bread, and eggs? I would have bought my ingredients for broccoli/cheese soup. It was a staple in my house during the winter. Beef barley was also another favorite in the Winter months.

We hit the food stores hard on Saturday. With my wife away, my 17 year old daughter and I have been cooking. She made killer Korean style sushi rolls with Kimchi last night. We bought tons of fish. Clams. Scallops. Salmon. Tuna. Fish roe. Seaweed. Black cod which is marinating in sake/miso right now. Not really winter comfort food but we are eating well during the storm. Heck, we always eat well but being stuck inside we are eating even better! Move to food thread hahahaha!

You will need a John Deere with the snow blower attachment and the heated enclosure for the winter. Mower and sweeper for the summer and fall. #bigboytoys.

Last time I was up there I saw a neighbor down the road using one of those 😄 I have a local contractor up there that takes care my yard and plows my driveway, once I move up there permanently I’ll see if I want to take over those jobs

Our streets are all cleared now and the sidewalks are in pretty good shape. I just dread the corners where you cross the street. Those are just full of slushy water. You need waterproof boots for those.

Once you become a Vermonter you will want to do it yourself and make your own beer and cheese! Maybe you will need the tiller attachment for your garden!

Well I'm done with winter now...

25" i believe here.  Had to remove snow from 3 places.  Used a snowblower but it still sucked.  Had to keep pushing the blower into the 2+ feet packed snow.

The ol back is letting me know I over did it.

Those pics are funny! I cannot even open my front door! This storm is a beast. I will have to shovel my decks which I never have to do. Jose get used to this. It happens more often in Vermont.
    😂😂
    it’s still snowing too!!!!

You’ve earned it but watch out for the gators!!
I expected you to give me a middle finger emoji! Hahaha
I admit when I saw that picture I said ( but not in a mean way) :"FU Speedy"=LOL. It didn't help that I just got in after shoveling about 2 Feet of Snow from my driveway.

Good for you getting out from the terrible winters that Chicago gets.
    Haha

Not in a mean way? My ass!!!!
    Hahaha

    Everyone here is mentioning shoveling.
Dont you folks out East own snow blowers?
    HAHA

I used to have a snow blower where I used to live because my house was on a Corner.

Where I live now, I just have a Driveway but NO sidewalk to shovel. I gave my snow blower to my neighbor when I moved.

Why did Frosty The Snowman pull down his pants?
He heard the snowblower was coming.

That was from 4th grade, I think.

My 6th grader fell down our porch stairs today, on the ice that I warned him about 5 times.
    No broken bones, thankfully.
Bruised tailbone, scraped up hands, bruises on his back, and his first case of whiplash.

Also, no cancellation allowed from his private drums and hitting lessons this evening.
Got to pay for doctor trip + lessons he isn't taking.

    Fuck the snow/ice.
The love he receives is the love that is saved

I had that tailbone injury playing football in high school. It fucking hurts. You cannot get comfortable at all and it takes time to go away. And yes you scrape everything else trying not to fall. Godspeed.
