seems to me the argument that ice isnt like the gestapo or other elements of nazi policing(for lack of a better term) is following the line to the same result that we saw at the conclusion of the war.

I think its fairly obvious the parallels are there in tactics , rhetoric and the basic idea of getting the "other" and those who oppose.

which isnt to say we are in fact headed toward gas chambers  and other mass scale killing methods.

its just that the similarities are striking

people do not realize that it was not death camps in the beginning. it was rounding up "the other" and "concentrating" them in camps or ghettos. it was only later, in 1941 that there were specific extermination camps. and those camps killed more than jews. they killed jews, gypsies, mentally ill, professors/liberals, the elderly, and people the camp doctors deemed "unworthy of life." this happened because there was nobody there to stop them. not the press, not the armed citizens, etc.

what we have now in america is exactly what happened in the early years of nazi germany.

I think Trump thinks he can postpone elections if he's in a war like Ukraine did.

Or that a war will lead to a FDR third term.

Except the constitutional amendment restricting to two terms was after FDR.   War didn't get FDR the third term?

Elections were held during the Civil War

Giving it some further thought they're more like the brown shirts with elements of gestapo tactics.

I have to say I am a little surprised at his handlers on this one. I get letting him accept it but to actually pose for an official photograph?

It sure appears weak and pathetic to me

  • if trump views it as strength, or even more so, being as good or better than obama, his handlers can't say anything to stop it. no chance he ever cared about the Nobel before obama got one.

I actually do LOVE, LOVE the proposal to ban corporate ownership of single family homes.

agreed. many areas in Canada have started doing this because of the skyrocketing house prices which was, ast least in part, driven up by people buying up properties to use as AirBNB's. When I saw that I was like "wow, he actually is doing something I agree with?" lol

It's one of those unusual situations where politicians of generally very disparate leaning have the same take- in this case, Trump and California governor Gavin Newsom.

I hope it will pass.  As much as I like Airbnb's, I wouldn't mind for some restrictions in that area too.  Although hotel rates are ridiculous even with the competition.

My wife rented an Airbnb in Vegas a few years back for my daughter's bachelorette party. No issues but the owner told her to deny they had rented the place if anyone asked. They were supposed to say they were just friends because renting wasn't allowed.
