The Official 2026 Tour Rumor Thread

I think that they are waiting on the programmer who is attempting to get every song they have ever written inputed into a drum machine...the Mike solos will be a little limited, but at least we will see the band....

The setlists will likely be "off the hook"....says the programmer

Just my opinion but I can’t see them taking an entire year off.  The band is set financially but I think to keep there “club house”running ( i one they keep showing off) they need to play shows.  Even if it’s only 10-12 in a year, that’s probably enough to keep it funded. 

My prediction for 2026
1) fall tour that includes Toronto and Montreal 
2) I hire @mcgruff10 to run the Niagara region. 

I hope Roger’s Stadium isn’t part of your prediction.

It was teased on the Can’t Deny Me single (from their “forthcoming album”). I don’t think it was entirely scrapped and I had seen mentioned somewhere that some of the songs eventually made Gigaton (River Cross, Quick Escape etc). Suppose we will find out eventually if the band ever does another b-side album. 

Interesting... Thank you - We did hear River Cross at Ohana in 2017 and at the time we had no idea what it was, so that makes sense for that song.  

Between 2017 and 2018, they laid down a ton of material, much of which is still unreleased. Back in 2018, besides Can't Deny Me — “taken from the forthcoming new album” — there was supposed to be an actual single, already mixed and ready to go. Around mid-2018, though, they scrapped most of those tracks produced by Brendan O’Brien and started over with a few songs they already had, like Quick Escape, the DOTC demo, and River Cross. The rest is history — basically, they spent the rest of the time recording the tracks that would eventually make it onto Gigaton.

Of course, no one in the band has ever talked about a scrapped album, but judging by the unreleased tracks “left behind” from those 2017/2018 sessions and the switch in producers — from O’Brien, who still plays on a couple of Gigaton tracks, to Josh Evans — it’s fair to say something changed along the way.

In 2019 we didn’t have shows but we did have a very active and eventually accurate rumor thread that let us know about all the expected 2020 shows (which Covid later changed).  This year it has been totally radio silent since the Matt news.  Even the usual sources of rumors haven’t said anything.  As fans we are not owed anything but it would be nice to have a few crumbs.  

Rumours for the spring 2020 tour didn’t really starts up into November or December 2019.
Earlier that year they were rumoured to play the Woodstock anniversary thing that didn’t end up happening.  Other than that it was largely the same as what this thread is.

I agree, spring 2020 came up without much in the way of rumors.  But there was a thread about the 2020 Euro tour throughout most of 2019 that ended up having almost a million views on here where someone with some intel was dropping hints about the various cities that were in scope.  When it was announced in December 2019 it was almost exactly as per the thread.  

Ah right.  I forgot all about Europe 2020, that turned into Europe 2021 then eventually Europe 2022.
The Europe 2020 shows got some traction September 2019, eventually being announced in late November or early December. 

Amsterdam '22 in the top 3 shows I've seen.  I very much hope to see the band in Europe again some day.

It sounds like they were doing a lot of work toward an album in 2017/2018. Demos and the like. Rumor is there was a lot material and some of it quite good. Definitely interesting and unique with some of the precursor sound to Gigaton.

To each their own but I cannot stand that song. And not being a Gigaton fan at all, I can’t even imagine how bad the scrapped album is if they went with Gigaton instead. I couldn’t take another album like that honestly which is why I was over the moon when I finally heard Dark Matter. Dark matter is definitely in the top half for me while Gigaton is at the bottom.

I'd be surprised if there aren't at least a few shows in 2026.   Most likely in the fall although who knows with it being the 250th anniversary of the country maybe they do something in July for that.  Philly is always an option since you know the country pretty much started here

I know I’ve probably posted this at least a dozen times already, but after how amazing the crowd was in Philly last year, I reiterate my request for the band to play an annual residency in Philly.
