last one finished - the puzzle plot was good for a page turner effect, but the story itself is rather too much a made up build

110 pages out of 220 read - and no crime in sight!?!?, but it’s very enjoyable. I was interested in the movie years ago, maybe I’ll watch it soon.

There’s a mystery bit to solve in the Sherlock Holmes book mentioned above, but the „chase“ can be more exciting for the film version, if it’s in it like in the book.

About 100 pages read… should be definitive worth the time. I haven‘t seen the movie (2000) before. But now + just with the poster Matt Damon (born 1970) looks like a serious miscast. The boy is 16 years young in the novel, luckily I don‘t „see“ the Hollywood actor with it!!

Dark fantasy/horror set in an alternate history Macon, Georgia. The Klan is in power, but they are led by actual demons. Only 30 pages in but good so far.

Just finished my 50th book of the year last night. Don’t think I’ve read that many books in my entire life until this year where I started reading end of March.

My two top read authors were Colson Whitehead and Percival Everett.

    Wow!  Nicely done!

I will have reached a 21 year low this year with having only read 14 books.  Several of them were four to five hundred pages, so that partially accounts for it, but also, some were so darned good I intentionally plodded through them because I didn't want them to end, especially David Browne's Goodbye 20th Century: A Biography of Sonic Youth, Peter Ames Carlin's The Name of this Band is R.E.M. and Laura Hillenbrand's Unbroken.

Lonesome Dove is a fantastic read - enjoy. I went into thinking it may not be my thing, but I found it highly enjoyable.

I’m not usually a western fan but people have said this is just awesome with very memorable characters throughout. I’m excited.

I'm reading Scott O'Dell's Island of the Blue Dolphins.  I know... it's a kids book!  But I'd never read it and we have a nice illustrated version (also a hardcover copy signed by O'Dell to my wife's parents).  It's quite a good book and the illustrations in my copy are marvelous!
