Just rented a dodge Durango for the long weekend in San Francisco. It was the bigger one with the third row and it was surprisingly easy to drive and park in the city.

I think we found it comfortable and very spacious. It had a 3rd row, which we would have rather have had as cargo space. Of course we were able to fold the seats down. It seemed to drive nice. I don't recall it having many extra bells and whistles.

We have a Dodge Durango and really like it. It's a 2019 and still reliable as hell....my mechanic warned me about it but it's been great and the extended warranty can't be beat. If you don't use the warranty service they credit you for the cost. That's what they told me at least.

Think about a Ford Maverick or Ranger....not an SUV but close enough

Even into my 30s and 40s he felt like he always needed to give me advice on cars. Ugh

One thing he was so adamant about? He fucking preached how anyone who buys a used car is just asking for problems. He was convinced that a used car was just someone else's piece of shit. Haha

He didn't give a fuck if it came with a 3-5 year full warranty. If it was used? It was a piece of shit.

What my dad never realized? Those 1970-1984 station wagons he drove his family around in?

My wife's vehicle is a 2022 Nissan Pathfinder. Nice SUV with a good amount of cargo space. Bought it slightly used and have had no complaints so far. From reading reviews and whatnot, I understand that some specific parts for this model are more expensive than for comparable SUVs. Most of them seem to be for the computer system and luckily (knock on wood) we haven't had to deal with that yet.

We have a 2015 Jeep Cherokee that we bought new. Absolutely love that car.

We also just bought a 2022 Chevy Traverse a couple months ago. It's pretty damn big but we need the 3rd row with 3 kids and just can't bring myself to buy a minivan. Really liking it so far....these newer cars are wild with all the safety features. All sorts of beeping and alerts all the time.

Came here to edit - we rented a Traverse, not a Terrain. Though we do have friends with a Terrain, CRV and Passport. Those 3 we have ridden in several times were less than ideal to me. Lack comfort compared the the Grand Cherokees. In my opinion.

2023 Cherokee Tailhawk here. Just passed 100,000 kms yesterday. So far I haven't had any major repairs. Very pleased.

I've had three Subaru Outbacks over the years. 2018, 2021, 2024. They are company cars and get replaced every three years, but they have been great. I would def buy one if one wasn't given to me.

We test drove a Traverse and I lobbied hard for us to get that one, but she really wanted the Pathfinder.

Just signed a 3 yr lease on new 2026 VW Tiguan SE… was looking at other more expensive cars.. this deal was too good… they pay off my last 1000 on my passport.. 3 yr lease/ 10k miles a year… $455 month with only $1455 due at signing… includes 1st months payment

smaller than my passport.. but I never needed the space…handles really well .. I’m happy

Just got her home… love it already!! Went with grey seats instead… white with a lil dog seamed to be problematic… love the interior n tech.. I got a great deal, told them to kill the deal and they dropped their pants lil more

car sales down 5% year over year.. I have 800 credit.. so I played hardball.. only $500 out of pocket… $430 month lease

Why thank you kind sir… now’s a good time to buy if you avoid the tariff ones.. this one didn’t have any due to being mostly manufactured here

seats are real comfy .. I wanted to possibly go electric but just missed the federal tax breaks that ended in September

Big difference as we age, when it comes to purchasing a car. In my 20s, I was happy to be approved for a car loan. The last 20 or so years its just fun to walk in and know I have the "upper "hand" so to speak. Meaning I can tell that salesman to "pound sand" at any point.
Actually my last 2 cars were purchased from Hertz Sales. Smooth transactions. No hassles, no pressure, no nonsense.
Plus the cars were both rentals, meaning the oil was changed regularly and maintenance was performed when scheduled.
Never had to put any money into either of those 2 cars over a 15 year period. Other than tires, brakes, and batteries.
