Billy Strings at the Commodore Ballroom Vancouver (990 capacity). I can’t say I got the full Billy Strings experience because I politely declined the free hits of acid I was offered in the lineup to get in 😆. Still though, what an experience it was! Amazing show! While bluegrass is not something I listen to a whole lot of I definitely dig Billy’s brand of (psychadelic?) bluegrass in the live setting. The long jams get his fanbase literally jumping & the energy is totally infectious.
Met lots of super friendly travelling fans.
Feel very lucky my first Billy experience was up close in a small venue.
Just finished listening to that show, and it’s so good. Had a friend at the Eugene show and heard it was her favorite out of 17 Billy shows. You were next to us at ATL2 right?

Neil Young & The Chrome Hearts.

Worth the 3-hour drive there to see NY on the Grounds of Woodstock.

I saw MJ Lenderman last night in Denver. His backing band is talented and they all sounded great.

We saw Tedeschi Trucks Band at the Gorge on August 9, absolute bucket list trip for us. First time at the Gorge, we've been wanting to go since I got my first PJ bootleg-July 22, 2006 but not in 116 degree weather! First 2 very cool people we ran into as we locked the car and started the mileish walk to the venue were also PJ fans from Columbus, Ohio so it was great chatting with them. Perfect day 32C=90F for a high and then the full moon came out about 10:00PM and it was shirt sleeve weather all evening.

Followed that up with Wilco in Vancouver on August 27 which was fantastic if a bit short, I believe because it was part of  our annual Pacific National exhibition in a modified 15,000 seat venue. We got damn near 2 hours but they'd been playing close to 3 hours before and after Vancouver and the show was over by 9:30. I think they wanted us out and spending at the fair until the 11:00 closing time
Last 2 Vancouver Wilco shows were in 2000-3000 seat opera house type venues which were great.

Next up is Neil Young tommorow outdoors in Greater Vancouver.

Awesome run of shows GG. Can I ask how Neil Young was? We'll see him tommorow(Sept.6). Curious about the other 2 bands(Oasis and NIN) also though I don't believe we'll have opportunity to see them anytime soon.

    Alabama Shakes and Bahamas.

I was a little nervous about Alabama Shakes given that it’s been so long away. They sound great and look like they’re having fun. Her voice is still amazing. Definitely recommend a show on this tour if you have a chance.

Bahamas were a fun opener and joked a few times about their support slot, in a good natured way.

Opening bands were ok in Toronto, but not amazing in my personal opinion. Astrid Young had some good stuff and I’d seen her much earlier playing in one of Neil’s bands. Rev Billy - I liked some of the music itself (particularly some of the instrumentation) but there was a lot of talking / preaching between songs which just broke things up too much for me. Glad I saw both of them, but may not see either on their own without being an opener for a headliner I wanted to see.

    Hope you enjoy the show.

Sorry for the late reply. Hope you enjoyed Neil Young last night. I thought he was great. If you saw what I posted in his thread the one negative to that show was they closed the pit due to flooding and I would have had rail. Instead they reassigned us to seats. This was at Jones Beach. But I thought he sounded amazing and I loved the set list. What did you think of the show?

I saw Jerry Cantrell on Wednesday and it was amazing. He played a perfect mix of solo and AIC stuff, and most importantly, he appeared happy and healthy. He’s the man.

I saw Jimmy Eat World and Offspring last night. Jimmy Eat World is always great and this was my first time seeing Offspring. Offspring's production was much more than I expected and they were very fun.

Was at The Descendents with The Buzzcocks opening. Man, the crowd slamming/surfing was nuts (I was in the balcony, thank god-I'm too old for that shit now). One guy, who SHOULD have known better, he was a bigger dude, was crowd surfing, got to the front, and the older security guard was helping him over the rail and he was so big they both went down. Fan was fine, security guy was not. Descendents stopped the show, and it was a good 20 minutes or so until the firefighters got there and carried the security guy off (thumbs up and all). Show resumed.
Your boos mean nothing to me, for I have seen what makes you cheer
