Musk's neo-nazi grok will be used by the Pentagon now.

In the fascinating new reality of the internet, teen girls can’t learn about periods on Reddit and indie artists can’t sell smutty games on Itch.io, but a military contractor will make you nonconsensual deepfakes of Taylor Swift taking her top off for $30 a month.

Early Tuesday, Elon Musk’s xAI launched a new image and video generator called Grok Imagine with a “spicy” mode whose output ranges from suggestive gestures to nudity. Because Grok Imagine also has no perceptible guardrails against creating images of real people, that means you can essentially generate softcore pornography of anyone who’s famous enough for Grok to recreate (although, pragmatically, it appears to mainly produce seriously NSFW output for women). Musk bragged that more than 34 million images were generated within a day of launching operations. But the real coup is demonstrating that xAI can ignore pressure to keep adult content off its services while helping users create something that’s widely reviled, thanks to legal gaps and political leverage that no other company has.

I am very close to buying a Tesla.  Just a really great car.

I guess I don't care who the founder/CEO or whatever is.  There are probably shitty people all over the high ranks of any car company.

I think blue MAGA has moved on from their "fiery, but mostly peaceful protests" regarding Elon/Tesla.

    Not as shitty as Musk.
I really like Teslas too, but I just wouldn't be able to bring myself to buy one at the moment, no matter how much I actually wanted one (moot point in reality - I am able to live car-free. But in a different reality, if I wanted a car, I would probably want a Tesla, if Musk didn't reap the benefits).

I’d take a Prius over a Tesla. Those things are built cheap and shitty. Amazing mileage and longevity as well as peace of mind with a Prius.

I dunno - I ride in the all the time, since I use Uber several times a week, and about 90% of Uber drivers drive Teslas. They all love their cars, and I think they are a great ride - nice, not cheap and shitty, and lots of power. I keep hearing some people say they are junk, but my own experience tells me otherwise. My impression in that the "Teslas are junk" theory is ideological (although I will say that the cybertruck is pretty junky. Not the appearance (I actually think they look kinda cool), but the construction of them and some of the materials are wack).

Yeah, I did a few demo drives and did a ton of research.  They are premium electric cars.  There is a connotation and people are quick to call them "junk" due to a dislike of musk and the cybertruck.  In various Facebook groups and reddit, people chime in with extreme tales of tesla or even failure.  Click on their profile and it will be all sorts of conspiracy theory stuff, Trumper, or almost zero personal activity.

I drove a cybertruck too just for the hell of it.  It is a beast, but a lot of unwieldy design flaws with it is would never be able to get over.

I have a few reservations i am nervous about (cost of insurance, parts, winter driving, chewing through tires), but overall I think it is going to be great.  The 7500 credit (and 500 in ny) is going away in a month and I want an ev so it is shit or get off the pot time.

I tried an Ioniq.  It was OK.  Considered waiting on the new Rivian.  Also looked into the EV Equinox.
