As a huge Primus fan, I really loved the Primus drum derby they did to replace Herb. I highly recommend folks to watch that series on their youtube channel. Lots of fun cameos, with the intro always being some Fred Armisen shennigans. I don't know if pearl jam would ever go that route, but that would be a fun watch.

I want any drummer that allows them to tour as much as possible (as much as they want to). Don’t care who. They will know what’s best for them moving forward. Time to pivot and ride on!
Matt Chamberlain or Barret Martin would by my ideal picks... after hearing about Klinghoffer's past drumming experience however, I won't be surprised if they stick with him.
If they think he can do the job to their standards, who am I to say otherwise?

Dave Krusen just shared on Instagram that he's going to be "chatting about the Pearl Jam drummer situation" on KISW tomorrow.
I don't think I can listen to it in Europe so if any of you could record it and share it here it would be great!
Dave started out by saying that he started getting messages about it yesterday morning, but he "has no idea" about the inner band workings and what is going on. He has said, "I really have no idea" at least 3 or 4 times in the past few minutes.

He talked about playing with them again at the R&R HOF induction and said it was fun. Said afterwards that the band was like, "we should jam together sometime, but that hasn't happened yet. but knowing what he knows about how they operate that he could get a random phone call that was like, "hey, be down here at 5"...but thats about it. No jucy details in this interview. They are playing Evenflow now.

The departure of Matt means the end of Pearl Jam for me. I still may see them if they are close and I score 10C tickets. But I will not be working very hard to attend a concert without Matt. And I will not pay $250 a ticket to see a replacement.

I say this with the clear declaration that Vs. is my favorite Pearl Jam record: Dave A. is a drama magnet.
Read that Facebook post between the lines. He still has a chip on his shoulder. He never really got over his dismissal. To invite him back would be inviting disruption.
It's been 30 YEARS. THIRTY. YEARS.
Meanwhile, Dave Krusen, Matt Chamberlain, and Jack Irons have all been living fulfilled artistic lives. They stay active, and enjoy the fruits of their labor. With respect for the past, and an eye towards the future.
I wish the same peace of mind for Dave A.

Yes, Dave A is resentful. Good chance I’d be the same if I were in his shoes.
He’s not asking to be hired back though. He’s asking people to stop bombarding him with pleas to approach the band.
This is what I got out of it too. He would be open to it, and curious what kind of music would come out of it, but it will never happen, and to stop messaging him about trying to rejoin.

Go with me.
I've been playing drums for 32 years. I know their catalog. I have enough PTO at work to be able to tour for the 1-2 months they do.
He says he'd love to jam with those dudes again, anytime. "I would love to". Doesn't sound like he has been asked formally yet.
