Here’s a new one: Abe Laboriel Jr. He’s played with a ton of different artists and I was really enthralled when he played with Ed and the Earthlings at Ohana.
I was just coming here to say this. He was great. But I do have to add a Go Ducks:)

Matt Chamberlain seems an obvious choice. If I recall correctly he already plays with Stone in Painted Shield, he's already been albeit briefly, a Pearl Jam drummer and coming back would fit in with Ed's love of all things circling back and coming around together, and even based on aesthetics not only a "Matt" but a "MC" behind the drumkit he's a natural slot for the 5-10 years the band have left. However I'd love for it to be a younger drummer if only to mean a return to the 3 hour sets.

Maybe depends on what the bands plans are.

5 or so more years with 1 album and 2 or 3 tours then one of the previous guys.

Just keep going until they can't do it anymore then someone younger

Dave Krusen, Sarah Jones, Abe, Nic Collins, or Stuverud. Matt Chamberlain might leave to play for a tv show again.
    Wild Card: John Stamos

Dave Krusen just shared on Instagram that he's going to be "chatting about the Pearl Jam drummer situation" on KISW tomorrow.

I don't think I can listen to it in Europe so if any of you could record it and share it here it would be great!

Id absolutely love to see dave krusen get the gig. Be a huge full circle moment for the band
The 5 original lads back together.  Would be beautiful.

Personally would love to see Jack return which would be a full circle moment of sorts in terms of what Matt did back in 98. I don’t think it will happen though.

Krusen is also a full circle choice. I can see this one happening potentially. Abbruzzese is just fantasy football stuff but you never know - oasis reunion, Slash and Axl making up, Frusciante returning to RCHP etc.

If they choose a / a bunch of studio and touring drummers, Matt Chamberlain would be great. Otherwise don’t really care too much.

It's a shock to see MC leave the band. Really didn't expect it. No Code and Gigaton are both my favourite albums on most days and the drumming stands out on both, so I would love to see Jack return, but also doubt it.
Krusen would be nice, indeed. I just wish for someone who will push the band creatively, as well. They were nice, but please no more throwback homages. Let's see.

  • As a huge Primus fan, I really loved the Primus drum derby they did to replace Herb. I highly recommend folks to watch that series on their youtube channel. Lots of fun cameos, with the intro always being some Fred Armisen shennigans. I don't know if pearl jam would ever go that route, but that would be a fun watch.

I want any drummer that allows them to tour as much as possible (as much as they want to). Don’t care who. They will know what’s best for them moving forward. Time to pivot and ride on!

Matt Chamberlain or Barret Martin would by my ideal picks... after hearing about Klinghoffer's past drumming experience however, I won't be surprised if they stick with him.

If they think he can do the job to their standards, who am I to say otherwise?
