Seeing as there are multiple threads I'm happy to delete this thread, but how....???
Don’t worry the Karen police of this board will start directing people by posting the link and thinking they are saving the world. (And who cares how many threads are up, seriously)
    ????
just makes it easier to keep up with posts and comment in a single thread no? What’s the issue there?

Wow... From the way this is written and the band's response, it definitely feels like there's more to the story. Regardless, I wish him the best—he’s clearly talented and shouldn't have any trouble finding new opportunities. Hoping the band finds a drummer who brings fresh energy to this next chapter!

Since he has given no reason for leaving the band; I would say the likelihood of there being more to the story is 100%. The possibilities are endless.

Not entirely shocked by this, after Taylor's death (and Cornell's to an extent) it seemed that touring wasn't a priority for Matt considering the PJ shows shrunk. He clearly wants to finish the Soundgarden stuff and potentially tour with Kim and Ben. He's in his 60s and his daughter just graduated college, can't knock him in the least for choosing to put a bow on the SG project over PJ. Wish him nothing but the best and just hoping Pearl Jam can bring back one of the previous drummers (Jack/Dave K) instead of going outside the band for someone like Josh Freese despite how great he is.

Krusen would be good to have, again. Bring back the original members to wind down the band.

Agree.  Keep it in the family.  I think a new member at this stage of the game is kind of lame.
All for him or Richard S.
If by Richard S., you are referring to Richard Starkey, aka Ringo Starr, coincidentally his 85th birthday is today
and I understand that he is available! "Peace and love".

I don't see them re-tapping one of the 90s drummers unless it was for studio stuffed with a hired gun on the road, but that also doesn't scream PJ to me. They're not scrambling to find a last min replacement for gigs already on the calendar, so my guess is that this takes time and we won't see a big name like Chad/Josh/etc

I completely agree with this. Neither side even hinted at the "why." Could be simple, could be complex.

I’m thinking a great replacement would be Richard Christy. Just saying

Haha!  I don't think his personal hygiene habits would go over so well with the rest of the band while on the road.

Watching the YouTube video of the ending of the 5/18 show in Pittsburgh makes me think that this was already decided pre Spring 2025 tour.  Everyone specifically embraces Matt at the end, so it sure looks like they all knew.

good lord, Dave A. The guy is STILL, to this very day, complaining online about how Ed and the band treated him. And he says openly he hates the band's music now. No chance he'd be invited back at this point.
This. And how many posts will there be hoping Dave rejoins the band?
