Oh boy. So asked for saturday work. I said it didnt matter how short or long. Just wanted to reacclimate to the job with less pressure.

Heres the run they gave me.

Columbus-Akron 138 miles loaded trailer

Akron-Pittsburgh 101 miles loaded trailer

Pittsburgh-Akron 101 miles empty trailer

Akron-Dayton 197 miles loaded trailer

Dayton-Columbus 76 miles empty trailer

613 miles on the day. 12 1/2 hrs on the clock. 9 hrs 57 min of drive time. 1.25 hrs pd hourly

Earned approx $530.00.

Was just like riding a bike. No struggle to hit a dock. was as safe as ever.

Been out of the truck since Thanksgiving morning.

week one back 2800 and change.

week 2 back 2800 and change.

week 3 after running extra tonight 3000 and change.... only have 6hrs 30 min left on the week to work with. gave me a little 300 mile run. all goes well will about an hour left....

VERY LUCKY .

0032 Louisville Ky. I-64wb xt 1 to I-264eb. Backside of the ramp. 2 shadowy individuals each throw rocks and connect with my truck. both striking the windshield effectively shattered the passenger side. little fuckers should play baseball.

rock, broken in half about the size of a smallish potato , goes THROUGH the glass and lands next to my seat after hitting the back wall. thankfully they also didnt hit higher and potentially hit and shatter the rear window.

kicker is a fellow driver from my company was directly behind me at a safe distance and he got one solid hit too. same fucking spot.

I really hope they get in big trouble. Attempted murder charge. Even if it gets dropped. People need to know the severity and consequences of their actions. Not happy about this stuff.

by captured I mean images for a better idea of what occured.

reminds me, I need to get on the ky traffic cam system and see if I can request that interchange and timeframe. these guys were out there for a minute. guessing 15-20 rocks in the roadway when I went past.

Well I now take that ramp a bit slower and with brights on. in the hopes catching faces if they come back out.

If you're going to request the traffic camera footage, do it sooner rather than later. A lot of them are on a limited storage time (few days then automatically deleted) or live footage only.

So, I promised a story in a friends post a while back. Here goes.

Back in May I went for a haircut after work. I sat down next to a young man , later learned he's 6, and his dad. Dad mentioned to the barber the boy was getting a cut for the last day of school the following day. Being tired and a little punchy I leaned over to the kid and asked if he could drive a forklift. Dad chuckles , kid looks confused. I figured summer break , he needed a job right?

Turns out , both he and his dad are nuts for all things trucks. So was I as a kid and I still am. Since I'm younger than the boy!!! Now 57 and my head still turns at a well put together truck.

So I get the idea to give this kid a gift. Put together some giveaways our company gives us for employee appreciation week. Accumulated quite a bit in my 8 yrs here. Included a lego set we had made for us.

Both were blown away by the gesture.

THEN I get the bright idea to bring them in for a tour of our facility ending with a touch a truck thing. Rhat happened today. I explained our operation from CSR to dispatch to dock work yard work etc. Introduced him to a stellar dock worker and a day driver , our night time dispatch team.

The boy got to sit in my seat when I started the truck, pulled the air horn and the whole bit. It was great.

He left with a fantastic gift bag of a variety of company logo swag.

I post this not for the attaboys I assume might come or for attention but to share the joy that comes from giving an experience to a young person. Seeing THAT joy on both the kid and dads face is good for the soul.

All because I felt a little punchy after a shift and made a funny comment.....
