Israel’s campaign against Iran, militarily and rhetorically, has quickly evolved beyond its initial targets. Over the weekend, it hit Iran’s energy facilities, including a gas depot and an oil refinery, triggering huge fires and spewing smoke across the sprawling capital of about ten million people. “Tehran is burning,” the Israeli Defense Minister, Israel Katz, boasted on X. Energy resources were struck in other cities, too, sabotaging Iran’s main sources of revenue. Israeli officials also began telling local and foreign media outlets that assassinating Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, the Supreme Leader since 1989, was “not off limits.” (Donald Trump reportedly vetoed the idea, but the fact that Israeli leaders even discussed it with their counterparts in Washington reflects how far they’re willing to go.)

There appears to be no off-ramp to the conflict right now, as the destruction and death toll mounts in both countries. In Iran, more than 200 people have been killed, and thousands more injured. Israel, in turn, has been deeply shaken by retaliatory missile attacks, which have killed at least 20 and injured hundreds. Israel’s elimination of Iran’s military brass may be a setback, “but it is not a strategy for ending Iran’s [nuclear] program,” a former U.S. deputy secretary of state told Robin Wright. Please elaborate. The Rs believe Obama gave Iran billions to get a peace deal is how I interpreted that picture.

the question is, why aren’t Dems vocally supporting Israel’s attempt to stop Iran from getting nukes, which experts said could have been weeks away.

even Kamala supposedly supported this policy. Is dems current silence antisemitic? Bernie and AOC don’t stand with Kamala? Why isn’t that covered by the news.

Kamala Harris is concerned about Iran's nuclear program and has publicly stated her commitment to preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon
Here are some key points regarding her stance:
    • Vowed to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon: Harris has explicitly stated that Iran would never obtain a nuclear weapon on her watch as president.
    • Diplomacy as preferred path: While emphasizing the importance of preventing Iran from becoming a nuclear state, she has indicated that diplomacy is her preferred approach.
    • "All options on the table": She has also stated that "all options are on the table," implying a willingness to consider other measures if diplomacy fails.
    • Focus on preventing nuclear capability: Preventing Iran from acquiring a nuclear weapon is one of her highest priorities.
    • Views Iran as a significant adversary: She has described Iran as the "greatest adversary" of the U.S., citing its role in supporting regional instability and proxy groups.

So our president is tweeting threats toward their leader and demands to 'surrender'.

Do we (or more importantly them) even know what "surrender" entails?

I get the Nuke facility/bomb concern.  But increasing this campaign and crossing the line into regime change and demanding that is no better than what Russia is doing to Ukraine, which I hate.  How can we defend Ukraine and also pretend to take a righteous road on Taiwan if we are doing another Iraq?

I actually have a relatively open mind and don't hate everything Trump so far in his term.  However, I think he has let Israel scum him and the USA on this one.  This could have ghastly ramifications.

This is who he is and always has been. None of this is surprising. President of peace? Ha, more like piece of shit President. He's in so deep with all his personal scams and bribes from the middle east that we're fucked 4-ways from Sunday over there with this guy. I really hope all these Trump voters who were sick of "endless wars" under Biden have come to their senses. Hell, I didn't think I'd ever agree with Tucker Carlson, but even he seems to get it for once.

Before 9/11, I didn't think much about terror attacks on US soil by foreign countries, but since this last election, all I keep thinking about is how long before it happens under this clown and his inept Cabinet.
    It's a hopeless situation...

Your opinion of the current president may be true, but, Harris did say everything should be on the table regarding Iran getting nukes.

Conceivably, what Israel is doing is part of everything. As much as I wish the current war was not happening in iran, they are a very dangerous country

An extreme wing of Democrats complain loudly about how Israel was formed...how about the current of current government in Iran?

Was that a legal formation of a government? Why is it the extreme left screams about Israel but folks like AOC and Berne seemingly are supporting Iran right now? They apparently actually want Iran to get nukes

Folks who like to play the politics end game, if the Democratic party were to adopt what the extremists like aoc and Bernie are currently saying, you can put New York and California in play for the Republican Party. Maybe the Democrats will win the senate in 2112 if that's the case.

Now tell us about the Shah. And how many countries Iran has invaded or bombed. Conversely, tell us how many IAEA inspections Israel has had and when they’ve signed the nuclear non-proliferation treaty.

Whataboutism ain't getting you 270 electoral votes nor 51 senators Hal.

My point wasn't that Israel was good ( it certainly no worse than Iran) it's that they have lots of supporters in New York and california. And if Iran is really worth throwing away American politics for the Democratic Party for the next couple of decades, have  at it

You’re advocating for the violent overthrow of a sovereign nation with military might. Some of us still have a moral compass. If Dems are going to blindly support Israel, they’ve lost me, and I’m okay with that.

Those who can’t remember the past are condemned to repeat it.

    Fuck Israel.

I wish I was like so many of you that could boil everything down to Good/Evil......black and white (the colors, not the people of those colors...sad I felt the need to state that here hahaha)...

You all are so smart and have such amazing moral compasses.  I wish I could be like you.

Reading about Israeli tanks blasting innocents in line for food so they don’t starve to death will do that to someone with a moral compass. Thought you had me on ignore?

I see more shades of grey than you will ever know.

If history hadn't already proven that overthrowing a government in such a manner only leads to bigger problems, I would be all for the US dropping those bunker busters and assassinating the Supreme Leader itself if it were so inclined. I would LOVE to see that regime overthrown (with as few casualties as possible, obviously), and the people of Iran freed from such awful tyranny forever. But history HAS proven that, especially when it comes to the Middle East. Why are so many humans so bad at learning from past mistakes? I'm glad at least some of MAGA seem aware of it. That's a lot better than usual for them.

His fat finger is on the trigger. He already approved the strike but "hasn't decided yet"... Like he isn't sure if he should have Maccas or KFC.

He's probably just trying to figure out how exactly to blame whatever goes wrong on Trudeau, Biden and Obama, lol.
