Has everyone forgotten that Brandon withdrew and Kamala was the candidate? Regardless of how it played out, there was a choice between Kamala normalcy and what we have now, which is a complete shit show. Have you seen who are at the helms of the federal agencies? Has everyone just decided that what we have going on is totally fine, “normal?”bootlegger10 said:
"normal" being shadow government in the vein of Weekend at Bernie's? I hope that doesn't become normal.Halifax2TheMax said:
No, there was still a choice. ‘Murica chose fascist authoritarianism over “normal.”bootlegger10 said:
Isn't that what you are doing? Excusing the inexcusable? Sounds like liberals are fine supporting someone who isn't quite all there to meet their objectives, just like conservatives support someone who definitely isn't quite all there to support their objectives.Halifax2TheMax said:
No, the repub party, COOTWH voters and non-voters fucked the country. Regardless of how it played out, there was a choice in November 2024.Tim Simmons said:He’s correct
Stop trying to excuse the inexcusable.
You can go back through this thread and see that liberals on here continually said Biden was fine, when it was clear that he wasn't. Everyone has blinders on when it comes to their personal self-interests.
Are there too many dots to connect or is this what people really want? An authoritarian, white supremacy dictatorship? There was a choice and ‘Murica made it. And it’s the dems’ fault, eh?09/15/1998 & 09/16/1998, Mansfield, MA; 08/29/00 08/30/00, Mansfield, MA; 07/02/03, 07/03/03, Mansfield, MA; 09/28/04, 09/29/04, Boston, MA; 09/22/05, Halifax, NS; 05/24/06, 05/25/06, Boston, MA; 07/22/06, 07/23/06, Gorge, WA; 06/27/2008, Hartford; 06/28/08, 06/30/08, Mansfield; 08/18/2009, O2, London, UK; 10/30/09, 10/31/09, Philadelphia, PA; 05/15/10, Hartford, CT; 05/17/10, Boston, MA; 05/20/10, 05/21/10, NY, NY; 06/22/10, Dublin, IRE; 06/23/10, Northern Ireland; 09/03/11, 09/04/11, Alpine Valley, WI; 09/11/11, 09/12/11, Toronto, Ont; 09/14/11, Ottawa, Ont; 09/15/11, Hamilton, Ont; 07/02/2012, Prague, Czech Republic; 07/04/2012 & 07/05/2012, Berlin, Germany; 07/07/2012, Stockholm, Sweden; 09/30/2012, Missoula, MT; 07/16/2013, London, Ont; 07/19/2013, Chicago, IL; 10/15/2013 & 10/16/2013, Worcester, MA; 10/21/2013 & 10/22/2013, Philadelphia, PA; 10/25/2013, Hartford, CT; 11/29/2013, Portland, OR; 11/30/2013, Spokane, WA; 12/04/2013, Vancouver, BC; 12/06/2013, Seattle, WA; 10/03/2014, St. Louis. I keep getting an error message every time I try to post and the Elongitaint thread just shows an Elongated Elongitaint photo stretched into a very long never ending stretched out blurred photo so I can’t read any new posts after Mr. Lux posted his “don’t let the door hit you in the way out” post. Maybe the mods are using AI to proofread my posts to ensure my niceties? Maybe I’ll ask AI why this is happening? Regardless, it’s a sign of things to come.DE4173 said:Brandon would have double-posted too 😉

I thought this was a Biden thread? I can't stand Trump and his family, team or policies. Didn't realize that we can't criticize anyone else while Trump is around. Should have known better about posting on the board.Halifax2TheMax said:“Shadow government” is the new buzz word, folks. Seems some might be feeling some guilt for what they’ve wrought.
The President, his family and leadership was hiding his decline from you and you didn't care because of your hatred for Trump. He had to be drug out of office kicking and screaming way too late in the game instead of doing the right thing, and eroded trust in the Dems.Post edited by bootlegger10 on0 -
Brandon, in his diminished state and the “shadow government” you profess, and the subsequent Kamala as candidate were and are still way better than what we have now. Full stop.bootlegger10 said:

Does it really need to be spelled out? There was a choice last November between Kamala and COOTWH. Had Kamala been elected, we wouldn’t be subject to the following, at a minimum:
jets being gifted.
canada as a 51st state.
renditions to El Salvador, Sudan and god knows where else.
Reopening Alcatraz.
Tariff flip flops and market instability.
Downgrading of ‘Muricas credit worthiness.
DOGE and the stupidity of that havoc.
An alcoholic womanizer abuser as SoD and war planning on Signal.
Gabbard as DNI.
Ca$h as FBI director.
A “professional wrestling” executive as Secretary of education and a cabinet position to be eliminated. Why’s it taking so long?
Golden Dome, stupid, just like Star Wars was in its day but the stupid part is believing it’ll happen in COOTWH’s term.
Abandonment of NATO and the support of authoritarian regimes.
The graft, the grift, the gaudiness, the cluelessness and the stupidity, 24/7/365.
Roadkill Kennedy and AI generated position papers from HHS.
The war on higher education because “the other.”
Stupid shit every single fucking day.
I’m sure some people are all in on all of it. In fact, there’s millions of people all in on all of it. Good luck, 1,328 days to go.

I think it’s worth noting that the Tapper book made information not previously known available and people were pretty upset. So IDK where the “why’s no one talking about this, or caring about this?” Is coming from.I don’t know what else people need done. He’s not in office. Won’t go back to office and the people on his staff are known throughout democratic circles. Some will get hired despite this, some won’t because of it.I don’t think it’s some shadow government IG. It’s people trying to keep the gravy train going or trying to minimize poor public perception. It’s unfortunate and ultimately fucked the country, but it’s nothing shocking. It’s been like this for probably every administration ever.0

Nor subject to this. Wholly unqualified people being nominated and confirmed, with repub knowledge and forethought. But Dems have to be best.

Anyone who thinks politicians are are not enriched by their election is in denial. Even the town mayor. Understand what is happening. And yes, they support their contributors. Pockets are lined. You do not get elected without benefactors. Then the favors are called in.0

Was I disappointed with how Brandon’s exit was handled? Sure. But I also understand politics in the context and moment of what was occurring. From my perspective, the following choices existed, none of which were ideal, and as such, I have no issue with how it played out. The issue is that there are some, you included it seems, that blame Dems for the current shit show we’re experiencing and at the end of the day, in November of 2024, ‘Muricans had a choice as they were presented with one. No amount of reflection, handwringing or assignment of blame is going to change that. Hold those responsible for this shit show responsible, the repub party, repub and Indie voters and non-voters. They own this clusterfuck. I don’t feel “cheated”, “scammed” or butt hurt by how Brandon, his administration, the dem party or the “shadow government” handled things, given the reality and understanding politics.bootlegger10 said:

Just for one moment, just one moment, you could call out bullshit on the left. That is the only reason I am posting here today.
Here were the choices as I see them:
1. Brandon runs in 2020, wins, is sworn in and after a year, maybe less, announces he’s not running for re-election. He immediately becomes a lame duck, Kamala is elevated as front runner due to her position of VP, dem candidates jockey for position and the infighting and messiness of three years gives repubs plenty of ammo and opportunity to criticize and block every effort at what the Brandon administration proposes. Nothing gets done, it’s a shit show as many potential dem candidates are current cabinet members.
2. Brandon holds off on announcing not running until after the midterms. Same thing happens but in a condensed calendar. Exploratory committees, fund raising, behind the scenes lobbying for endorsements and financial support typically happen well before 2-3 years to go until election day.
3. Brandon runs to get re-elected, wins, and steps down after a year, giving Kamala 3 years in the White House before running again in 2028 in her own right with her own record. That didn’t happen but may have been Brandon’s calculation. Maybe Brandon believed in the ‘Murican people to do the right thing GIVEN THE CHOICES BEFORE THEM? And had he won and served 4 years with the “shadow government” calling the shots, it would still be better than the current shit show if only because the people in the “shadow government” are/would have been “normal.” There is nothing “normal” about COOTWH and the repubs and their supporters. Both sides are not the same.
4. Brandon has a disastrous debate performance, withdraws, Kamala is anointed by the “shadow government”, debates a candidate who claims the other is “eating the pets of the people that live there,” and with all that we know of COOTWH, from 2015 forward, and more, plus the 2020 election shit in Georgia, smartmatic, Russia, Russia, Russia, 1/6, Project 2025, etc, etc, etc, the ‘Murican people are given a choice and 2,284,967 more ‘Muricans vote for COOTWH, with 49.8% of the vote, proving Brandon’s faith in the ‘Murican voter to do “the right thing” was misguided.
Brandon, in whatever state he was in as he ran for re-election was more qualified to be in office and most certainly so is/was Kamala, of which we had a choice. The fact that anyone is more upset with Brandon, Dr. Brandon, the dem political establishment, the “shadow government” or anyone else for how the dem candidate came to be, given the choices, the history, the context of the moment, rather than the repub party, their candidate and positions, repub, indie and non-voters, is, frankly, astounding and deeply disturbing, to me and doesn’t bode well for the future. At all.
You can blame Dems all you want but Repubs own this. It will take some serious pain for people to wake the fuck up but I’m not hopeful given the results of November 2024, what has occurred and what is occurring.
You can’t blame me nor will I apologize. I don’t “own” it. 1,328 days to go. Good fucking luck.
PS: Do you believe COOTWH calls all the shots, understands everything and has the capacity to address issues and govern or is Herr Miller, JD Byryder and/or others operating a “shadow government?”Post edited by Halifax2TheMax on09/15/1998 & 09/16/1998, Mansfield, MA; 08/29/00 08/30/00, Mansfield, MA; 07/02/03, 07/03/03, Mansfield, MA; 09/28/04, 09/29/04, Boston, MA; 09/22/05, Halifax, NS; 05/24/06, 05/25/06, Boston, MA; 07/22/06, 07/23/06, Gorge, WA; 06/27/2008, Hartford; 06/28/08, 06/30/08, Mansfield; 08/18/2009, O2, London, UK; 10/30/09, 10/31/09, Philadelphia, PA; 05/15/10, Hartford, CT; 05/17/10, Boston, MA; 05/20/10, 05/21/10, NY, NY; 06/22/10, Dublin, IRE; 06/23/10, Northern Ireland; 09/03/11, 09/04/11, Alpine Valley, WI; 09/11/11, 09/12/11, Toronto, Ont; 09/14/11, Ottawa, Ont; 09/15/11, Hamilton, Ont; 07/02/2012, Prague, Czech Republic; 07/04/2012 & 07/05/2012, Berlin, Germany; 07/07/2012, Stockholm, Sweden; 09/30/2012, Missoula, MT; 07/16/2013, London, Ont; 07/19/2013, Chicago, IL; 10/15/2013 & 10/16/2013, Worcester, MA; 10/21/2013 & 10/22/2013, Philadelphia, PA; 10/25/2013, Hartford, CT; 11/29/2013, Portland, OR; 11/30/2013, Spokane, WA; 12/04/2013, Vancouver, BC; 12/06/2013, Seattle, WA; 10/03/2014, St. Louis. Speaking not for Halifax but for myself, assuming you mean during his term (as opposed to before the 2020 election). I knew it...and I'd have still voted for him in part because the presidency is about who's on the team as much as who the president is (and look at the team we have now...) and part because of everything that's happening now was roughly predictable.bootlegger10 said:

And while you can accuse me of deflecting, it's not like either candidate was young and on top of their mental games, so it was lose/lose from that end, anyway.
That all said, it would be nice if the Democrats could find a better candidate and it's tragic that they have to rely on things like "tied to Obama." And Biden himself had a pretty good term in office. And he undid it all by refusing to do the obvious: a 2022 or early 2023 announcement that he won't be seeking a second term. Nobody would have faulted him for that. Instead, he succumbed to ego or whatever and pantsed himself in the unavoidable debate forum. And Trump's advantage increased because a candidate fell into the nomination and middle-of-the-road people who didn't appreciate the gravity of what 47 was going to do either stayed at home or voted for Trump.
The Dems really do mess everything up...Post edited by OnWis97 on1995 Milwaukee 1998 Alpine, Alpine 2003 Albany, Boston, Boston, Boston 2004 Boston, Boston 2006 Hartford, St. Paul (Petty), St. Paul (Petty) 2011 Alpine, Alpine 2013 Wrigley 2014 St. Paul 2016 Fenway, Fenway, Wrigley, Wrigley 2018 Missoula, Wrigley, Wrigley 2021 Asbury Park 2022 St Louis 2023 Austin, Austin 2024 Napa, Wrigley, Wrigley 2025 Nashville (II)0 -

Brandon, in his diminished state and the “shadow government” you profess, and the subsequent Kamala as candidate were and are still way better than what we have now. Full stop.bootlegger10 said:
I thought this was a Biden thread? I can't stand Trump and his family, team or policies. Didn't realize that we can't criticize anyone else while Trump is around. Should have known better about posting on the board.Halifax2TheMax said:“Shadow government” is the new buzz word, folks. Seems some might be feeling some guilt for what they’ve wrought.
The President, his family and leadership was hiding his decline from you and you didn't care because of your hatred for Trump. He had to be drug out of office kicking and screaming way too late in the game instead of doing the right thing, and eroded trust in the Dems.
You can be critical, in this the Brandon thread. I disagree with your opinion. Who’d you vote for?
PS: Do you believe COOTWH calls all the shots, understands everything and has the capacity to address issues and govern or is Herr Miller, JD Byryder and/or others operating a “shadow government?”

I don't see any deceit. We all knew Biden was getting old.
I don't disagree that his campaign should have known that it would be a hard sell in today's political environment. Every slip up is magnified if you're a democrat.Post edited by Gern Blansten onRemember the Thomas Nine !! (10/02/2018)
