You must be new.  This has been going on forever and can start with No Child Left Behind.

What IS wrong with schools is that if the kids pass the school gets more money.  It is in the best interest of those schools to do so.  It's a piss poor incentive.

Really? There are a few articles on it.

I do know kids hand in late assignments, fail tests and still get passed. That is and has been happening.

Wow , that was a quick about face. The other article was literally written YESTERDAY.  I guess there was a big enough backlash.

Kids are still getting "passed" though.  I know thats true.

Just a tid-bit for anyone curious about the ever-expanding list of points that are comparable between the Trump admin and the Nazi regime: Schools were forced to adjust curriculum to conform to Nazi ideology.

You don’t say? But we were told that it couldn’t happen here?

And for shits and giggles, what kind of curriculum do you think those home schoolers and private schools are going to teach with those public tax dollars?

To quote you, for shits and giggles, you realize this is completely false, right? More up north misinformation as we cheer on the Oilers!

Harvard is free to set its own curriculum.

This has nothing to do with Nazi Germany. The difference is, they have to fund it themselves through student tuition, which is the American way. Interesting that the socialists would not understand that. What’s wrong with re-examining how much of your tax dollars, assuming you pay American taxes, go to subsidize billionaire universities, and their foreign students, before we give them your money?

so subsidizing billionaire job creators with tax cuts is bad (it is) but spending billions to subsidize billionaire universities is good, right? It’s very difficult to understand the liberal logic.

I’ve read elsewhere that for every $1 of taxpayer money given to universities, society receives $8 in return. These links partly explain how it works in the real world and not how you think it is or wish it to be. But go ahead and tell us again how universities are ripping us off and should just pay for it themselves.

You might want to think twice (lol, u?) before accusing me of being insane, because if you bothered to read your  Forbes article, there’s a lot agreed on. Example excerpt below.

Of course liberal extremism here misunderstood my point. Unis are free to set their own curriculum, but if they want taxpayer handouts perhaps there should be standards, which could get set by the election winners (so figure out how to do so!) The nazi setting curriculum attack from the person in the socialist nation made a false claim. That was my point

” Implicit in the administration’s actions are concerns about bloat and wastage of taxpayer money. It would be naïve to argue that there is none of that. I am biased because I work for a university, but I try and take the other side of the debate and suggest two ways forward.

    Targeted cuts

First, the government might want to consider targeted cuts instead of broad-based ones. Cuts can be based on a thoughtful analysis of past results of the research funding and an assessment of the potential for future benefits. I am no medical scientist, but I suspect research in certain areas have more tangible benefits than others. “

Is that what DOGE did, targeted cuts? Is that what COOTWH has done to Harvard and the other universities? You’re making shit up in your head. What organization or household or endeavour is 100% efficient with its resources? Zero. What are the most efficient organizations running at with what % is considered “wasteful” or inefficient spending?

People are free to attend any university they can apply to and be accepted. There are liberal and conservative college campuses across the country. Does Liberty University accept or receive tax payer dollars in any form? Why not cut theirs? For the record, I don’t think you have a clue on how private and public universities are funded, how they’re operated and where the dollars come from and go. If you want to debate types of research projects that are funded, that’s a completely different argument than what your chasing your marbles for.

If you really want to know what university endowments pay for, where tuition dollars are spent, how much comes from where, you can read their annual reports, typically available on line via their website. I suggest you do some research.
