Scratches on merch license plates?

My buddy and I were both able to snag a license plate from the Pittsburgh merch stand. Before we even opened them and took them outta the plastic we both saw scratches on each of our plates. Like it happened before we purchased them. Has anyone else seen this?

I was only aware of one other. Based on your lovely note I can only hope there were only 3.

I initially thought my PA license plate was scratched when I took it out of the packaging, but it turns out there’s a tight, nearly invisible shrink wrap over the plate. If you've only removed the loose outer plastic and haven’t peeled off the shrink wrap, try gently pulling at the 'scratches'—you might see the wrap start to tear.
