My dad has early dementia and Joe Biden is no where near that. Biden is still able to give speeches (he just did a week ago) and yes, he's old, he stutters, he loses his thoughts, etc., but "severe decline" is a stretch.0 -

It's funny how many people stopped worrying about having an old man as president once the democratic candidate was determined to have deteriorating health.1993: 11/22 Little Rock

My point was if he wasn't an "old man" pre-debate on 6/27/24, did the +1 day (6/28/25) age him immensely to become too old to run deemed by Congressional Democrats?1993: 11/22 Little Rock

Your telling me that was one of the factors that has led me to backing off from AMT quite it bit, and being immersed in soul scarring news so often. Not that it isn't important to stay informed, or care, or even try to make a difference, but unless one has that stamina of a Heather Cox Richardson, or the ability to compartmentalize like my wife does (she can rail against tyrants one minute, and be in a very calm and centered space the next), it's just not healthy to let current events destroy your peace of mind and physical well-being. I'm as unhappy as ever about this current administration, but by not being as obsessed with and over-indulging in current events as I was for a long time, I'm a healthier, and probably more likeable, person than I was for far too long.Thank you!nicknyr15 said:mrussel1 said:brianlux said:nicknyr15 said:static111 said:nicknyr15 said:Nick, some time ago you suggested my participation on AMT seemed unhealthy for me (I forget the exact words). There’s NOTHING better than looking at your avatar while you’re going off on some serious political debate. I can’t tell you happy I am you kept it.You guys are goofballs!(I love it!)I also want to shout out to gimmesometruth27 who, by suggested keeping a journal, also helped me to seek a more peaceful and productive direction. Thank you, bud!And please know that nothing I am saying here means I have any dislike or disregard for any of you. Each of us must find our way through the tangle we live in, and that's OK as long it it works for you and no one is harmed by it.Peace, all.

i also didn’t and do not think Trump is fit to be president. He’s mentally unstable in a different way. But the Biden issue was clear for anyone to see that cared to.hippiemom = goodness0 -

It's my belief that it wasn't an age issue as some here a
are pointing to. Like before the debate everything was fine, but afterwards, in the group chat, people are saying, "Ya'll think Joe is too old to run again? That day really did a number on him."
I don't think all had constant contact with him, but they had to have made their decision based on something, right? My guess is the people who had contact with him and felt obligated to share what they knew and reached out to others.
There is also a difference between what we saw. Some people noticed things that were questionable and spoke up and were treated a certain way and then there were others that explained it away as the usual, "He has a stutter, what about/now do Trump, he's a gaffe machine", etc.1993: 11/22 Little Rock

It didn't mention cognitive decline.
I took that post as: people were "worried" about Biden's age (81) until he dropped out, but okay with with old man (78) staying in.
My opinion, in which I'm fine with being wrong, and sounding like a broken record at this point, is that age wasn't an issue as much as President Biden's decline was. Stories have been around for a while and with the election being lost to the other party, there'll be more info to come.

If it took the debate to question his decline, you weren't paying attention. People seem to think being hyper-focused on trump during biden’s term was doing them a favor. His presidency was greatly sheltered for a reason, and the majority of democrats didn’t even notice. I'm just glad the great awakening finally occurred, albeit far too late.0

I was not old enough to be paying attention to politics during reagan’s second term. I, and seemingly others here seem to have witnessed troubling signs before the debate in this instance, however. I’m all for age limits. It’s the logical thing to do, imo.0
