Of course Grohl sabotages the only thing the Foo Fighters have done in the last 15 or 20 years to really pique my interest. If he hires Shane Hawkins, I might just lose the little amount of respect I have left for him.

Josh Freese is a National Treasure... I can't wait for his top 10 list.
I am no expert, but doesn't replacing a drummer require A LOT of rehearsal time. The band can't be too thrilled unless there were actual problems.

I also predict the replacement will be someone's kid.
A good enough drummer will know the songs before he even sets foot in the rehearsal space. I wouldn’t think that would be much of a hangup for the rest of the band.
As I said to Hugh, based on Freese’s resume, I would be surprised to hear he was a problem or difficult to work with. Does that mean something didn’t happen here? No, but if there WERE problems, I wouldn’t expect Freese to put out the note he did. If it wasn’t working for some reason or another I would have thought at this age and stage of their careers they all would accept that & move on… the note’s weird to say the least. (But again, I don’t know any of the parties involved personally, so what do I know?)

Idk, maybe JF is being petty here, maybe DG is being a dick… maybe both or maybe neither. Maybe we’ll find out some day. Or maybe not. 🤷‍♂️

The comments are a hoot. I think it's notable how many accomplished artists are showing up for Josh.

Worth noting that Josh is hilarious. He has an incredible sense of humor and seems like a blast to hang with, let alone play music with.

Had to have been hard coordinating schedules with all those other bands.  Maybe that was a big reason?

Could be a hint of that Metallica thing of "if you're ion Metallica you are only in Metallica"

Nah they knew the score with Freese. Add that to Dave doing Them Crooked Vultures, the Coattail Riders, the Dead Peasants etc etc,  and maybe a conflict over schedule would be the only thing but APC has been the only notable addition to his schedule and they'd have been ok with being flexible. Tool just finished up in Mexico and Danny is doing Beat.

Shane replacing him seems most logical but he's nowhere near the calibre needed. Hell if you wanted a nepo baby at the kit Rufus Taylor would be the better choice.

Style is a hard reason to fathom given how versatile Josh is.

Ability obviously not-it's nothing close to William's situation as he's better than both Dave and Taylor.

Personality clash is weird given Josh was friends with Taylor and is also a consummate professional.

Sounds to me like another dumb decision old mate made without wearing a rubber.

Maybe Dave A will be the new drummer. hahaha
Dave A playing with a "big" band at a "big" venue again, would be cool to see honestly.

I think I recall him adressing this on his facebook page some time ago. Not interested in “the machine”.

This isn’t an original thought, I heard it floated on a podcast I listened to this weekend… whatever this drummer thing is about, I bet Freese is in on it… both the FF and Freese kept the announcement of his hiring 2 years ago under wraps right up until the live stream aired… they clearly had fun with it, so why wouldn’t they do the same here?

I think this is all a bit… at least that’s what makes the most sense to me.

It would be a ballsy move by Dave given the (completely predictable) amount of shit being flung at him and his band as a result. Which is to say I think it's entirely possible that it's a gag.

Easy to say when the machine isn't available anyways.

But he might be honest also. Seems like a pretty honest fellow.

It would be a smart move…. Drummer controversy > infidelity / child born out of wedlock controversy… people are going to talk about something now that they’re coming back, it’s kind of perfect.
Did you expect JF to be the permanent drummer for FF? I didn’t… the more I think about this, the more convinced I am that this is a bit.
