You should check that again. They've plummeted since then so it's a month behind now. We've had a whole month of prices dropping yet reporters are still talking about this?Halifax2TheMax said:Price of a dozen eggs rose to $6.23 on average in March. “Day 1.” Suckers.
 Check this chart.
Not calling you out because that is what I have read too but when you look up the data its really lowered. I guess the news really is about doom and gloom.

Heres another that states the egg prices are 3.26 now.

More market manipulation. Hope everyone here made 2.5 billion or 900 million like trumps pals! It’s so obvious at this point.0

            Yeah, wtf... 😒
 Quick question:
So it's either stock market is tanking under Trump (way to go/lol) or it does well and it's all about manipulation?
I guess if it fell/rose incrementally, it would be less obvious and receive less criticism.
Maybe I answered my own question 🤭

It seems pretty obvious though, doesn't it? What the president verbally states related to trade can ultimately swing the market violently from day-to-day and that's what he's doing, constantly. This is not how you run a country's economy unless of course your experience is in running businesses into the ground and declaring bankruptcy. He could have easily began conversations with all of these countries in private through his staff about negotiating changes in trade policies, which wouldn't have created one of the most volatile market stretches in history that wasn't due to an actual national or global crisis.DE4173 said:Yeah, wtf... 😒

Your pondering on this and trivialization of it points to a broader concern I have that most people don't seem to realize how abnormal and dysfunctional his approach to our economy is and the long term damage it will do. It's not like he's some R&D employee musing on the next big innovative approach/idea tucked away in the back offices of Microsoft. Unfortunately everything this idiot says has huge impacts on the financial stability of our economy and the world. It's a hopeless situation...0

He literally treats the American and the world economy like it's a delightful game he gets to play. Kinda like a nasty little kid who gets his rocks off by burning up ants with a magnifying glass. That's his mindset, plain, simple and horrifying. He is incapable of caring about the damage he's doing to people because he's a psychopath, which, of course, doesn't mean he isn't fully aware of the damage he is doing. I think that is part of the fun. We're the ants.

Pretty interesting op-ed from the NYT on Tariffs and how they are being perceived in China and how it affects Chinese manufacturing and Amazon/Temu/etc.

Trump's having a conniption fit about Amazon wanting to show the tariff price on items. Nope, he definitely doesn't want Americans actually knowing how much they have to spend on tariffs, obviously..... I REALLY hope that many, many more businesses, large and small, choose to display tariffs in subtotals as well.

Well, after the mess he inherited from the Biden admin, we're lucky for his leadership through these hard economic times 🤪nicknyr15 said:It's a hopeless situation...0

I know people are up in arms about this but are the tariffs really going to help the Govts coffers? I really want to hear a view on how it can work thats not a boot licker.0

I mean, it's more taxes going to the government, so yes, it will help the government's coffers just like other taxes do.

It will be a net loss as opposed to what they were collecting historically.0
-

I would argue it's a weak substitute. Yes, tariffs will drive revenue to treasury short term, but the price increases will decrease demand, and therefore more likely to reduce gov revenue that it currently receives in the form of sales tax and business tax. If sales go down, those tax receipts go down.PJ_Soul said:tempo_n_groove said:I know people are up in arms about this but are the tariffs really going to help the Govts coffers? Sure, if you take into account the effects the tarrif war will have on trade and the economy overall, America will lose on all counts.
