    Of the girl
  • I think Love Boat Captain and Inside Job need to be on the list.
Love Boat Captain was used only during the 2003 tour as an opener, but if you listen to Buffalo and Vancouver especially you will see why. A singalong in the first song, what more to heat up the crowd?

As for Inside Job - Think it was only used as an opener in Frankfurt 2022 and it created this feeling you get when someone is starting a bonfire, the warmth perpetually increasing and as the song builds up Mike's solos absolutely exploded. Should be used more as an opener.

    Depends on what you prefer.

If you a prefer a hard hitting, rocking opener, than you can't better than Go. It just hits you in the face.

For a slow burn, Small Town, Release, Long Road and Low Light are all perfect in that regard.

I personally have always thought Leash would make a great opener.

    "Troubled souls unite
    We got ourselves tonight."

That's a great statement to open a concert with.

I love a fast & strong opener like Go or Given to Fly, but I think my two favorites are Long Road and Sometimes.

Wash means you might be in for a special night. I love Can't Keep and Of the Girl. Into Breakerfall or Brain of J.

Any of these five are killer.  That would be the order of my preference.  These days I like the slow opener.  Great way to ease into it.  Good with second song going hard though.

    Release
    Long Road
    Hard to Imagine
    Wash
    Of the Girl

The correct answer. While Release and Long Road are the titans, Wash is amazing as an opener.

Got my first Wash opener in Vancouver last year & it blew me away.
Love Oceans as an opener too.

These are fantastic! Haven’t gotten HTI or Wash as openers, but did hear them in the first five songs. All so good.

To add one, I loved hearing Elderly Woman with the lights on to open the show in Jacksonville, 2016. Crowd was into it!

If there was a different opener for literally every single show from now on, that would be fantastic.

The top 3 openers I’ve seen are:

Nothing As It Seems (Cardiff 2000)
    All Or None (Vic 2007)
    Alive (Newcastle 2006)
    “Do not postpone happiness”
    (Jeff Tweedy, Sydney 2007)

“Put yer good money on the sunrise”
    (Tim Rogers)

So many great options.  Release just feels like the best to me.
I did like the novelty of 'double openers' e.g. Pendulum > Of The Girl from the 2013(?) tour
