Roughly $1.4 billion a year as opposed to Israel’s $4B per year just from the US alone, and $310B since its inception. But everything is equal, eh?
No it’s not equal. That is my point. Has not been for a long time. But let’s protest in a country that gives us a billion plus each year. Dumb.
Or let’s misrepresent facts.
Yes, let’s protest US tax dollars contributing to genocide. Want to make things equal? Give Palestine a well armed military so it can defend itself and $4B in aid per year. The hypocrisy is astounding.
Do not hate the players, hate the game. It seems to me that there were many years of peace in that region. What changed? How do you expect the Israelis to respond? One of the toughest armies in the world. Right because that is hypocrisy and genocide. It is not like they are protecting what they believe is theirs just as the Palestinians are fighting for what they believe is theirs. The problem is that most of the world favors Israel over Palestine. I am not sure that is an accident.
Tell us what the “defeat of Hamas” looks like and what comes after.
Defenders of Israel act as if the nation of Israel has done nothing wrong to the Palestinians living in the West Bank and Gaza and that they’re truly innocent in every thing. Just minding their business, treating Palestinians as equals, not seizing land or homes, imprisoning thousands without charge, restricting movement and committing acts of not only war crimes but genocide. While Palestinians chant “river to the sea” , Israel quietly goes about making it happen. Let’s not pretend these are not truths and let’s not lie about them occurring.
To achieve peace, both sides must be considered part of humanity. I acknowledge Israel’s right to exist. Can you say the same for Palestine?
as long as they are run by a terrorist organization that conducts kamikaze style attacks to kill women and children, how can they exist peacefully? It’s an absurd question.
This current argument has been ongoing for two years for one reason and one reason alone, Palestine initiated an attack because it was not happy with Israel forwarding another peace deal in the region. This time with Saudi Arabia
And if people wanna throw out the ridiculous fake attacks of genocide, defend that baseless attack with why there are not 100 million Jews living in that region right now.
It’s a one-word answer. Why don’t you give it a try
and Hamas speaks for all Palestinians now?
OH THATS RIGHT. ALL PALESTINIANS ARE HAMAS. I forgot. my bad.
WHATABOUTISM, has NOTHING to do with Palestine, because it occurred before that was a thing
Not really contemporaneous, but that money was designed to keep the peace and build infrastructure. And make no mistake that money was designed to keep Israel in power while giving aid to Palestinians. Keep drinking the kool aid. The US supports Israel because they buy weapons and pay for lobbyists and political campaigns. It is all about money. Perhaps the Palestinians should try that approach instead
As interesting as bringing up military aid is, the economic explanation is more significant. The United States would like a western style government in place that has influence in the region.
They want to see cities like Abu Dhabi and Doha become more common in the Middle East. They want a western style economy that could generate growth, trade, all the things we like to see in America.
The Palestinian extremists will die to the death to prevent that from happening. So if you want to talk about how best to serve the women and children and people of Palestine food and shelter and peace, which story gets that to them? Living in the past with terrorism, or economic growth in the future?
This is why Palestine is willing to die to continue this war
Roughly $1.4 billion a year as opposed to Israel’s $4B per year just from the US alone, and $310B since its inception. But everything is equal, eh?

you still condone the murder of civilians.
Problem being that Hamas has this awful tendency to hide behind the civilians who are supposed to be their responsibility. In that sense, as disgustingly cold-hearted as it may be it’s moreso Hamas who’s committing murder, knowing the likely Israeli tactic, as well as the godawful concept (but valid) of collateral damage. Smart warfare is still pretty dumb from what I can see.

was it the political wing of hamas or the terrorist wing?
We were also told that the West Bank had nothing to do with the events of 10/07 and to bear witness to how well the Palestinians of the West Bank were being treated as evidence. What’s the truth of that statement today?
What if one condones most of Israel’s actions in Gaza but condemns their actions in the West Bank?
you still condone the murder of civilians.
Can modern day war happen with the death of civilians?
Maybe you left off the “out?”
There are still international law and the Geneva Conventions that apply to how nations should conduct themselves during armed conflict and their treatment of civilians. However, Israel stands alone in the world with their opinion that those laws, conventions, rules don’t apply to the West Bank and Gaza Strip. Wonder why that is?
Dated but I’m sure not much has changed since this was published. And why would there be any change? Israel suffers no consequences for its illegal actions. 13 emergency aid workers summarily executed and buried in a mass grave, deliberately targeting and killing journalists and the widespread killing of women and children continues. With impunity.
If you’re wondering about the “why” of 10/07, read the information in the link. Gaza had been turned into an open air prison and the West Bank continues to be occupied and endure settlement expansion. This report is almost 25 years old and not much has changed, sadly.
The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC), the international body charged with monitoring and promoting adherence to the Geneva Conventions, takes the position that the Fourth Geneva Convention fully applies to Israel's conduct in the West Bank and Gaza Strip.17 It is also the view of virtually the entire international community excepting Israel, as reflected by numerous U.N. General Assembly and Security Council resolutions,18as well as resolutions of other regional bodies such as the European Union,19 and the position of most of the legal scholars who have taken a stance on the issue.20Israel stands alone in its interpretation that the Fourth Geneva Convention and the Hague Regulations do not apply to the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
Under Protocol I, Article 51(4), indiscriminate attacks are prohibited. Israel is not a party to Protocol I, but the provisions prohibiting indiscriminate warfare are considered to be norms of customary international law, binding on all parties to a conflict, regardless of whether it is an international or internal armed conflict.47 Indiscriminate attacks are "those which are not directed against a military objective," "those which employ a method or means of combat which cannot be directed at a specific military objective," or "those which employ a method or means of combat the effects of which cannot be limited as required by the Protocol," "and consequently, in each such case, are of a nature to strike military objectives and civilians or civilian objects without distinction."48 Military objectives are defined as "those objects which by their nature, location, purpose or use make an effective contribution to military action."49Among the types of attack specifically prohibited as indiscriminate is "an attack which may be expected to cause incidental loss of civilian life, injury to civilians, damage to civilian objects, or a combination thereof, which would be excessive in relation to the concrete and direct military advantage anticipated."50 Also prohibited are "attacks against the civilian population or civilians by way of reprisals."51
And if people wanna throw out the ridiculous fake attacks of genocide, defend that baseless attack with why there are not 100 million Jews living in that region right now.

you still condone the murder of civilians.
Smart warfare is still pretty dumb from what I can see.
and theres anecdotal reporting of IDF soldiers using human shields as well. .
Which is equally a war crime.

Who is the murderer in this situation?
That’s not warfare, that’s law enforcement, not the same thing.
Good lord what a terrible take. There are laws that govern even warfare for a reason.
I get it that my every take is terrible to you, but the laws that govern a SWAT team (your example) and soldiers in an active war (reality) are vastly different, which was my point.
And I believe one of the laws governing warfare more or less states “Thou shalt not hide behind civilians of any stripe like a craven coward.” Addressing engaging with those who do so is a grey area that can be discussed, and even should be.
If we all clearly and openly agree that Hamas’ tactic of using the citizens that are their responsibility as human shields is an abhorrent policy fully deserving of prosecution as war crimes in international courts, then we can get deeper into the Israeli army’s actions in the face of civilian shields (and the allegation made earlier of their own use of civilian shields needs to be investigated as well, obviously).
Unfortunately my experience here is that Hamas’ part in any of what has been unfolding there gets either ignored, downplayed or straight up justified.

So how about it, why aren’t there 100 million Jews living in that region right now?

Your bias is astounding. It’s unfortunately irrelevant to parse citizens from leadership in geopolitical problems, not that their citizenry doesn’t want exactly what Hamas tries to do.
It’s my responsibility to excuse Palestine for being a true shitshow? A country where no neighbors wish to help? For the absurd questions about their people being separate from leadership? Even with trump, the USA is a million times better than that country.
Since when do citizens sign and enforce peace treaties?
I guess you can count your lucky stars you were born here no?

Absolutely. For all its faults, people come here for opportunity and a peaceful environment. Even with a bad president.

The actions of the country are hard to fathom as a Jew, so I can only imagine how hard they are to fathom as a non-Jew. I would've made the same assumption, just wouldn't have asked it as directly. So sue me.
The hatred towards Israelis by Palestinians at this point, is warranted. The hatred towards Palestinians by Israelis, at this point, is also warranted. For most that live in either locale, they have only known conflict with the other, or have known conflict for the vast majority of their lives. They have also inherited conflict from their ancestors - again, on both sides. They have seen the worst of each other, and have been told and taught the worst of each other.
I don't expect any resolution to this in my lifetime, I also don't expect criticism of Israeli actions to stop, because the world loves an underdog story, and Israeli actions have solidified Palestinians as the underdogs in the territory.

Cops demand criminal release hostage.
Criminal says no, pulls hostage in front of him.
Cops shoot criminal, also hitting hostage, killing both.
Who is the murderer in this situation?
Can modern day war happen with the death of civilians?
and theres anecdotal reporting of IDF soldiers using human shields as well. .

General Assembly and Security Council resolutions,18as well as resolutions of other regional bodies such as the European Union,19 and the position of most of the legal scholars who have taken a stance on the issue.20 Israel stands alone in its interpretation that the Fourth Geneva Convention and the Hague Regulations do not apply to the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
