Surprised to get a bass. Very beautiful spot. Was just planning to cast a little to get the kinks out of my stuff. Saw the bass come in and munch the lure. Water is crystal clear.

Trying out a new ultra light 6 maybe 7 foot rod. Not sure I like it. Really zero hook setting strength. Do like the sensitivity.
    Whatever!!
    Happy to hook into one.

Wow Rob! Thx for the pics. The one with the stripes looks like a fish here we call yellow perch or 'tiger' perch. People say they taste good. Big fish.
    Great catching. Super sweet!

    Yes that is a perch
It's a particularly big one actually they are normally small . Spines along the back
This was my biggest perch ever. A lovely fish

I'm guessing a female full of eggs.
I have caught 100's and 100's of perch. Some real nice jumbo's too.
But holy fuck that is a HUGE PERCH!
    Take me piece by piece.....

On this small lake they have chub up to 7lb. That's ridiculous size. I went there about 15 years ago and everything was small. Now I've gone back and it's all got oversized. I think the carp are around 18lb max so not so much those

It has been too cold and the water too high for any fly fishing here in NY. Hope it settles down next week.

This one will be inshore.  10 yr old hasn't gone offshore yet and we had a lot of fun last year around Anna Maria.

I love going way out into the Gulf of Mexico (not GoA) and may do it again in a few weeks on a trip to Louisiana.   If we don't run out of Grand Isle we will just stay in the bayou the whole trip.  That is an annual guys trip, so no kiddos to be concerned about.

Nice! Good luck. Hopefully you get on some nice reds and sea trout.

I have not fished the ocean in a LONG time. Maybe once out to Montauk to surf cast. Cannot remember the last time I was in a boat. Damn kids. My saltwater gear is close to being Marie Kondoed by the wife.

A couple big reds (9 LB range.  Not bulls but a good fight.  Had a bull that broke off at the boat.)
    Few specks thrown in.
The 10 yr old caught 2 of the Reds, had a blast.
    Good eats

Nice haul! A 9lb red puts up a great fight on light tackle. I need to head south soon.

Looks great! I have only had redfish a few times. Delicious. We do not get that very often here in NY.

Is there ever a “bad” day fishing??? I’ll take bad fishing days over about 40% of regular days. Nice haul on the reds and specks
