Woah. I did that snag and drop once. No takers. Must have been something feeling it pick up and start running. Is it an aggressive hit?

That one wasn’t.  I had to wait until he turned the bunker in its mouth.  He was just taking his sweet ass time lol.  He lived to see another day. :)

Ah. Or you'd pull it out. Sure there's a technique to it.

Yes. Got 2. They are wild brown trout. Haven't got out in a while. The stream called me and gave up a couple.
Might walk a brook by my house. There are small wild brook trout in there. Really beautiful colors too.

Thanks. The first one had no orange spots but was a bigger than 2nd. The fin by the tail is so cool with that white outline.

Love throwing bigger lures for browns. They’re meat eaters after all.

Sure. I like to throw flies too. But for me it's more of a commitment. Hooked a monster brown on a leech fly. Hit the brook by me today too. Hooked 2 minnows. Couldn't get brook trout to bite.
Not a bad way to end 2024 season unless I get out again.

As much as I hate to admit it, I haven’t been fishing since March and that was in Florida. I’ve been dealing with a bum hip the past few years and I finally got the surgery done December 9. I need to rehab the next couple months and then eventually I can throw the Simms waders on and get on some trout. Usually this time of year I make a couple runs to Erie, PA to catch some steelhead.

Take care and the fish will be waiting for you. Any tall tales of past adventures for steelhead? I never went for them. Fly rig or spin? Sure wading up there could be dangerous in the cold.

Went for some landlocked salmon the other day for a quick try. Beautiful morning. Saw a school of baitfish being chased and some surface action. Couldn't get a bite, but really didn't put in much time. Was planning on harvesting one for the grill. Pretty sure the lake knew that and wasn't ready to give one up yet!

Thank you! I guess my best Steelhead story is making several trips to Lake Erie tributaries and having zero success, but then one day it just turned on for me and I caught four of them in like 20 minutes.  I wanted to cry lol.  I did go with a guide once and I caught a dozen of them.  I just wanted to learn something really.  It was incredible how dialed in this guy was.  You could tell his time on the water made all the difference.

That sounds like a fun fishery.  Are these Great Lakes salmon?
