Too bad Everclear the drink makes you go blind and not deaf so I would never have to hear these arseholes again.

I used to love Everclear, their first 3 albums and their 5th are great, but their 6th sucked and I never bought the 7th cuz its not Everclear anymore its just Art Alexakis with 5 other dudes instead of just the drummer and the bassist.
    32 shows and counting...

I like them! Well I liked their first few albums anyway, Sparkle and Fade is a wicked album.

Only heard the single from the last record, and it sounded like shit, so haven't bothered with them since.

These cuts are leaving creases. Trace the scars to fit the pieces, to tell the story, you don't need to say a word.

I saw them live in concert twice, and no, they weren't terrible live. if they had been terrible, I wouldn't have seen them a second time. they actually put on a pretty good show both times.

and like the poster above me said, "Sparkle and Fade" WAS a damn good album. imo, the songs "Elektra Made Me Blind" and "My Sexual Life" are 2 of the best songs to come out of the 90s. there were a couple good songs on the first album, then S&F was mostly good, then there were a couple good songs of the 3rd album. after that, I pretty much stopped listening to them.

now I'm not saying they're up there with PJ, AIC, and some of the other great bands from the 90s. but I DO say they were better than 90% of what came out then, at least until they tried to go poppy on the 3rd album. I suggest listening to those 2 songs I mentioned though, I love both of them.

Longtime Everclear fan here. I can see why people might not like Everclear, I’ve heard varying opinions about Art depending on when & how you meet him.
Having said, their contributions to 90s rock are undeniable. “So Much For The Afterglow” is a masterpiece  “Wonderful” was adopted by the victims of the Columbine Massacre.
I like many fans missed the old line up. Everclear is clearly Art’s vehicle.
On the lyrics & songs, I think much of the appeal is the directness & simplicity. Whether  you’ve experienced it or not, Art does paint as someone said masterful pictures from a songwriting perspective. Which is any great successful songwriting. Tom Petty comes to mind (whom they’ve covered)
I always wanted to see them, but as I’ve read his voice is pretty rough & they tuned their guitars  down. They secured their place in rock history for those that their music played an important role in.

I don't understand how anyone can hate any music or say that music is shit.
Granted, there is music that doesn't work for me.  There is even music that I find very irritating.   But why hate it?  Just don't listen to it and find something you like.  If you work in a place where it's being played and you have no choice but to have to listen to it, don't hate the music.  Direct your anger toward the person or persons who don't take your feeling into account.  It's not the music that is bad.  There is not such thing as "bad music".

    LOL,poor Nickelback.

Well, let's take "How You Remind Me" as an example.  Like the other songs of theirs I've heard, it sounds very generic to me.  Do I hate it?  Nahh.  Have I ever listened to an entire album of theirs?  Nahh.  But a lot of people do and I'm happy for them.

Now let's go for something more challenging, a band that has been heavily trashed over the years:  The Shaggs, My Pal Foot Foot.  Do I hate it?  Not at all! Do I like it?  Not really, but I totally mesmerized by how unusual they were.  I could almost like this even:

But then, I'm a huge Albert Ayler fan, so maybe don't ask me about these things.
