The truth certain posters don't want you to know. For this, Rumeysa Ozturk was snatched off the streets and is being detained absent due process. The due process the oh so poor victims of DEI have at their fingertips. To think that some believe expressing the below is worthy of the treatment Ms. Ozturk is experiencing. And some wonder how Hitler rose to power and did what he did. Oh, the humanity.

Op-ed: Try again, President Kumar: Renewing calls for Tufts to adopt March 4 TCU Senate resolutions

By Rumeysa OzturkFatima RahmanGenesis Perez and Nicholas Ambeliotis
    Published Tuesday, March 26, 2024

On March 4, the Tufts Community Union Senate passed 3 out of 4 resolutions demanding that the University acknowledge the Palestinian genocide, apologize for University President Sunil Kumar’s statements, disclose its investments and divest from companies with direct or indirect ties to Israel. These resolutions were the product of meaningful debate by the Senate and represent a sincere effort to hold Israel accountable for clear violations of international law. Credible accusations against Israel include accounts of deliberate starvation and indiscriminate slaughter of Palestinian civilians and plausible genocide.

Unfortunately, the University’s response to the Senate resolutions has been wholly inadequate and dismissive of the Senate, the collective voice of the student body. Graduate Students for Palestine joins Tufts Students for Justice in Palestine, the Tufts Faculty and Staff Coalition for Ceasefire and Fletcher Students for Palestine to reject the University’s response. Although graduate students were not allowed by the University into the Senate meeting, which lasted for almost eight hours, our presence on campus and financial entanglement with the University via tuition payments and the graduate work that we do on grants and research makes us direct stakeholders in the University’s stance.

While an argument may be made that the University should not take political stances and should focus on research and intellectual exchange, the automatic rejection, dismissive nature and condescending tone in the University’s statement have caused us to question whether the University is indeed taking a stand against its own declared commitments to free speech, assembly and democratic expression. According to the Student Code of Conduct, “[a]ctive citizenship, including exercising free speech and engaging in protests, gatherings, and demonstrations, is a vital part of the Tufts community.” In addition, the Dean of Students Office has written, “[w]hile at times the exchange of controversial ideas and opinions may cause discomfort or even distress, our mission as a university is to promote critical thinking, the rigorous examination and discussion of facts and theories, and diverse and sometimes contradictory ideas and opinions.” Why then is the University discrediting and disregarding its students who practice the very ideals of critical thinking, intellectual exchange and civic engagement that Tufts claims to represent?

The role of the TCU Senate resolutions is abundantly clear. The Senate’s resolutions serve as a “strong lobbying tool that expresses to the Tufts administration the wants and needs of the student body. They speak as a collective voice and are instrumental in enacting systemic changes.” In this case, the “systemic changes” that the collective voice of the student body is calling for are for the University to end its complicity with Israel insofar as it is oppressing the Palestinian people and denying their right to self-determination — a right that is guaranteed by international law. These strong lobbying tools are all the more urgent now given the order by the International Court of Justice confirming that the Palestinian people of Gaza’s rights under the Genocide Convention are under a “plausible” risk of being breached.

This collective student voice is not without precedent. Today, the University may remember with pride its decision in February 1989 to divest from South Africa under apartheid and end its complicity with the then-racist regime. However, we must remember that the University divested up to 11 years after some of its peers. For instance, the Michigan State University Board of Regents passed resolutions to end its complicity with Apartheid South Africa as early as 1978. Had Tufts heeded the call of the student movement in the late 1970s, the University could have been on the right side of history sooner.

We reject any attempt by the University or the Office of the President to summarily dismiss the role of the Senate and mischaracterize its resolution as divisive. The open and free debate demonstrated by the Senate process (exemplified by the length, open notice and substantive exchange in the proceedings and the non-passing of one of the proposed resolutions), together with the serious organizing efforts of students, warrant credible self-reflection by the Office of the President and the University. We, as graduate students, affirm the equal dignity and humanity of all people and reject the University’s mischaracterization of the Senate’s efforts.

The great author and civil rights champion James Baldwin once wrote: “The paradox of education is precisely this: that as one begins to become conscious one begins to examine the society in which [they are] being educated.” As an educator, President Kumar should embrace efforts by students to evaluate “diverse and sometimes contradictory ideas and opinions.” Furthermore, the president should trust in the Senate’s rigorous and democratic process and the resolutions that it has achieved.

We urge President Kumar and the Tufts administration to meaningfully engage with and actualize the resolutions passed by the Senate.

Anti-semitic protests did not lead to that Tufts University student being detained. Just stop with the lies, propaganda and misinformation being propagated by Hillel and the Canary Mission. I'll take a legal brief, filed under penalty of perjury, by Tufts University
over Murdick reporting, lies, propaganda, doxxing and, misinformation spread by certain posters.

Stop your personal attacks and replies with bias and dishonesty. Attacking the media that disagrees with your worldview, that’s just what Trump does. Nice job Hal. Proof below of the tufts “peaceful free speech” supported by some democrats. There is another word for bias.

For those who do not understand.
There is a word for only allowing one side of views to be expressed.
Only allowing one side to ignore the harms caused by its government.

Allow one side to be excused for how they treat women and gays, punishing free speech with murder, and forcing non conformists to live in apartheid style conditions.

when only one side is allowed to speak, war will never end.

without honest negotiations, war will never end

The students here on visa should get their hearings. Let the truth come out.

Appalled by reports of vile antisemitism during a student senate meeting
@Tufts yesterday. In addition to confronting the passage of pro-BDS resolutions on campus, Jewish students were reportedly told they smelled, were spat on, and overheard blatantly antisemitic comments from their peers.
must immediately investigate these allegations & take concrete steps to address the antisemitic hostility on campus that has only escalated in the wake of October 7th.

Right, must be them because the ADL does not get a voice.

You are literally proving my accusation of biased comments.

Give her a lawful hearing. I WANT the truth to be revealed of what happened on that campus.

Senate rejects Bernie Sanders' proposal to block $8.8 billion in weapons sales to Israel

Meanwhile, no accountability for this war crime.

After 18 months of slaughter, it is still possible to be shocked by events in Gaza. More than 50,000 people have been killed, according to Palestinian health authorities. More are starving because Israel has cut off aid. The offensive is intensifying again – with 100 children killed or maimed each day since Israel resumed heavy strikes last month, the UN reports.

Even so, Israel’s killing of 15 Palestinian paramedics and rescue workers is particularly chilling. Though they died on 23 March, it took days for Israel to grant access to the site, the UN said. Another man was last seen in Israeli custody. Two grounds for seeing this not only as tragic but as a war crime stand out. The first is that the UN says the men were shot “one by one”, and a forensic expert said that preliminary evidence “suggests they were executed, not from a distant range”, given the “specific and intentional” locations of bullet wounds. Two witnesses said some of the bodies had their hands or legs tied. Prisoners are protected by the Geneva conventions. The second is that medics also enjoy specific protections.

Though the vehicles were clearly marked, the Israel Defense Forces claim that they were “advancing suspiciously” without headlights or emergency signals, a claim disputed by the sole located survivor. They also allege, without providing evidence, that Hamas and Islamic Jihad militants were among those killed. What is indisputable is the broader pattern of attacks on rescue and health workers. More than 1,000 medics have been killed across Gaza, according to a Guardian investigation, and hospitals reduced to ruins. The World Health Organization says about 300 medical staff have been detained. Several have subsequently described torture, beatings, starvation and humiliation. Doctors who have volunteered in Gaza see a systematic assault upon healthcare and the respected community figures working in the sector.

None of this appears of great concern to Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister. The international criminal court (ICC) has issued a warrant for his arrest on war crimes charges, but as he visited Hungary on Thursday, Budapest announced it was withdrawing from the court. Donald Trump has emboldened all of those who see the ICC as an enemy and law itself as optional.

The president’s plan for the US to “take over” Gaza, dependent on the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, made it all the easier for Israel’s defence minister, Israel Katz, to say that it will “seize large areas” of the territory. The right has long wanted a land grab. Israel has already extended buffer zones dramatically since the murderous Hamas raids of October 2023 triggered this war.

That Mr Katz’s warning came in a week where Mr Netanyahu testified again in his corruption trial, and gave evidence to police (though not as a suspect) over a separate scandal involving alleged links between his aides and Qatar, was striking. The prime minister’s political survival remains linked to an endless war, to the despair of the families of the remaining Israeli hostages, as well as Palestinians.

The Israeli military says it is investigating the 23 March killings, but only an independent inquiry will suffice. David Lammy, the foreign secretary, described Gaza as the deadliest place on Earth for humanitarian workers and rightly said that those responsible must be held accountable. In an age where impunity flourishes, crimes will multiply. Those who believe in justice must redouble their support for the embattled international institutions seeking to uphold it.

The U.N. has said Israel killed the workers. The video appears to contradict Israel’s version of events, which said the vehicles were “advancing suspiciously” without headlights or emergency signals.

The truth? If you insist on mocking my words Please read the first amendment regarding assembly and the requirement that comes with it, and report back. What is the requirement for assembly?

Even the text with that video “appears to contradict.” I support due process for the detainees, yet you are deciding who is wrong based on what “appears to contradict.” Some due process, pal. Its a war. Figure out how to end wars.

Palestine is the lowest of the low in human rights in the world. It’s not just Hamas, it’s the extreme of the extreme of their culture, how they treat all people in their country not born into their exclusive club. Go over there and protest. I’ll buy you a nice suit and tie.

To be fair, a clip from a review of that book

”He is stunned to see the network of checkpoints that make it impossible for Palestinians to move freely. He is offended that he is only allowed to go through one after he, an atheist, confirms that his grandparents were Christian. He realises that Palestinians in the West Bank have limited access to water while settlers have swimming pools. If it is a surprise that Coates has only just realised this, he makes the point himself. He remains ruthlessly self-critical.”

ok. it’s a war. That seems normal in a war. How do we end it?

and y’all constantly post one sided attacks against one side in this war, and pretend the other is good and true, or it’s just their militant leadership. But always ignoring their horrible human rights record that is embedded in their culture.

    Freedom of expression and assembly

According to the Palestinian Centre for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA), assaults against journalists increased, especially when they covered events that were critical of the authorities. Palestinian police generally dispersed independent protests quickly, using excessive force.

    West Bank

Palestinian security officers routinely harassed protest organizers and dissidents with threatening phone calls and visits. On 18 June, Palestinian Preventive Security forces beat Abdel Majid Hassan, head of Birzeit University student council. They then detained him and fellow student Yahya Farah in Ramallah for a month. The students’ families reported that they were tortured.

In October, Palestinian police used force to disperse demonstrations in solidarity with people in Gaza, in apparent coordination with Israeli military officials. On 17 October, after al-Ahli hospital in Gaza City was hit, protesters in Ramallah, the West Bank’s administrative centre, gathered to protest the inaction of Palestine’s President Mahmoud Abbas. They were dispersed with stun grenades and tear gas.

I just took my kid yesterday to his admitted student fair at a University in New York. Many student activist groups holding court, from pro voters, republican club, democratic club, vegetarians, environmentalists, African American fraternities, and yes Hillel and other religious groups. The only group with a bullhorn and shouting at kids and parents aggressively? Like literally jumping in my face and shouting through a bullhorn. The pro palestinian group. That will not earn them any favors from me and it was disruptive for the students trying to learn about the different clubs/groups on campus. I have no problem with Universities trying to shut that down and remove disruptive students. It is one thing to speak your mind, and another to impede on a student experience to make your point. You are here on a visa as a privilege to attend a US university, that is not carte blanche, it comes with conditions imposed by the institutions and yes, that privilege may restrict freedom of speech. It is private property. The one rule, do not be an asshole, this group qualified.

The rest of us have always been consistent in this: blsme the leadership, not the people. Jews and Palestinians both.

You keep using their culture as an excuse for bibi’s genocide. Maybe Americans should all be exterminated for allowing the constant murder of children in schools and their own human rights abuses worldwide in the name of “liberation”?

You keep dehumanizing them with these comments, and it’s fucking gross.

From the UN. The part about Israel conveniently not mentioned.

United Nations in Palestine marks 30th Anniversary of World Press Freedom Day

    03 May 2023

Today the United Nations in Palestine marks World Press Freedom Day, 30 years since it was first proclaimed by the UN General Assembly. While we celebrate the principles of a free press, it is important to highlight restrictions to press freedom, including attacks on journalists, and advocate for enhanced press freedom and a diverse, pluralistic and independent media landscape.

The 2023 theme is Shaping a Future of Rights - Freedom of expression as a driver for all other human rights. This three-decade anniversary also coincides with the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights which states “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression.”[1]However, this fundamental right is increasingly under attack globally, with both state and non-state actors playing a role in media suppression, and the proliferation of misinformation and disinformation, especially in the online sphere.

Attacks on the media have serious consequences for democracy, peace, the rule of law and human rights. Without freedom of expression, and in the absence of legislative frameworks on access to information, citizens risk losing access to reliable, accurate and up to date information and governing systems can fail.

Restrictions to press freedom and violence against media personnel come in a myriad of forms across the Occupied Palestinian Territory, and include censorship, confiscation of equipment, arrest and detention and physical attacks. In 2022 alone, the Palestinian Center for Development and Media Freedoms (MADA) documented a total of 605 violations against media freedom[2]by the Government of Israel, the Palestinian Authority and the de-facto authorities in Gaza. 129 of these cases included physical assault, two of which were fatal shootings, and 64 were of detention and arrest. Women journalists can face additional societal barriers to their work and are particularly at risk of gender-based violence, including online threats and smear campaigns.

Video Shows Aid Workers Killed in Gaza Under Gunfire Barrage, With Ambulance Lights On

The U.N. has said Israel killed the workers. The video appears to contradict Israel’s version of events, which said the vehicles were “advancing suspiciously” without headlights or emergency signals.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2025/04/04/world/middleeast/gaza-israel-aid-workers-deaths-video.html

    This is disgusting
The truth. Something some can’t accept and conflate the cold blooded murder, war crimes, if you will, with campus protests, name calling, spitting and disrupted or cancelled commencement exercises. But the real crime against humanity? DEI initiatives and unintended consequences against white people. Those are the real crimes for which we demand our day in court and to know the truth so justice can prevail.

Meanwhile, Senator Chuck Schumer is called Furher Schumer by a repub senator and we’re supposed to believe the far left is the problem.

The truth will set you free.

I’ll buy you a nice suit and tie.

his experience suggests otherwise as to palestinian hospitality

To be fair, a clip from a review of that book

”He is stunned to see the network of checkpoints that make it impossible for Palestinians to move freely. He is offended that he is only allowed to go through one after he, an atheist, confirms that his grandparents were Christian. He realises that Palestinians in the West Bank have limited access to water while settlers have swimming pools. If it is a surprise that Coates has only just realised this, he makes the point himself. He remains ruthlessly self-critical.”

    ..

ok. it’s a war. That seems normal in a war. How do we end it?

and y’all constantly post one sided attacks against one side in this war, and pretend the other is good and true, or it’s just their militant leadership. But always ignoring their horrible human rights record that is embedded in their culture.

from amnesty (there’s ALOT like this)

They were dispersed with stun grenades and tear gas.

and later in his trip , with Israelis as his guides , he was amazed when going through a checkpoint not used by Palestinians and wasnt scrutinized to the degree he was as an American when going through Palestinian lines.

... it's war so that seems normal. really? according to wiki, this trip took place in the summer of 2023.

and has it been a war since 67? who was that war with? Egypt and Jordan and.....?
