Bachman Turner Overdrive just released a song featuring Uncle Neil. BTO’s first new track in 40 years and an ode to Winnipeg.
I saw Bachman on a solo tour last
summer (he was awesome!) and plan on seeing BTO in April as well. And rumour has it he’s touring with Burton Cummings in 2026 on a Guess Who reunion tour! Pretty cool these old canucks are still touring/putting out tunes.

ick. that song is cheesy as all f***. I like the Guess Who, but I have never liked Bachman's lyrics in BTO. Almost seemed kid-like in their simplicity. It's almost like he comes up with an idea "let's write a song about (subject)" and then has to build lyrics around it, which to me, never works well.

Slim chance, but anyone have a presale code for the Lakefield show on May 23? Doesn’t look like anything is available for NYA members so far.

Don't seem to be many going to the documentary here in town on thursday.

I might skip it also, and instead leave and go back home for easter

I'd have to agree. The filmmaking was terrible. And it needed an editor. And some indication of who the various people were, and where they were, and... it was just not a good movie.

Yeah. Neil is funny and it was nice seeing his life before and after a concert. But all of that could have been a 10 min snippet youtube video. And why did Darryl keep stuff like people talking to Her while she was filming?

And honestly. I LOVE Neil but not like the songs sounded peak either… and it didn’t help the songs it was shot so lifeless.

Yes -- I was stunned by the "two old dudes stuck in traffic" opening, but I assumed concert footage would be the payoff. But the concert footage was *bad* -- fixed shots of the blurry stage from a distance, no shots of audience, footage of Neil was grainy and focused squarely on his guitar/belly (his head sometimes not even in the frame).

This reminds me of when he released the album in the phone booth. Cool concept but completely botched. No offense Neil and Jack White lol

Sounds like I didn't miss much (but then, being old myself, I might have had lower expectations and might have liked it a bit more than some).  But what about the soundtrack LP?  The few reviews I've read make it sound interesting.

I dug it during the film last night & picked the record up today.

I finally got around to picking up Oceanside Countryside on vinyl. It’s the first time in years I haven’t either preordered a Neil record or gone out on release day. To be honest, I’ll probably never play it, and it felt like an unnecessary purchase. It’s not an era of his that I particularly enjoy, and how many copies of Pocahontas do you actually need?

I’ll get around to picking up Coastal eventually, but I’m in no rush while I can stream it on NYA.

Having said that, it looks like the vinyl production has stopped for a while. It’ll be interesting to see what the ‘errors’ are…

Interesting. Played the record through a few times today and didn’t notice any obvious problems.

I opted not to get that one.  It's not my favorite era either.  Some of those songs are fine, and I do now and then pull out the LPs that I have that cover that period and listen to a side or two, but not often and I don't need more.

I haven’t listened to it yet, but someone in one of the FB groups said there was singing and harmonica at the same time on one of the songs, and wondered if that was what Neil was referring to.

Field of Opportunity is a song I never need to hear again :o  It really grates on me.

Ah yes this is obvious now on I Am A Child. Not sure I would’ve ever picked up on that without being told.

Just heard Gene Simmons talk about calling Neil (or his people) trying to get him on the KISS tribute album in the 90s. Hehe.
