I've got a client that retired to Mexico. They love it. I can't remember exactly what area but they use a UPS Store in Houston as their US connection.

They live very comfortably on their SS benefits and savings. They told me they have enough to pay rent, eat out, etc., with no financial worries.

Yeah for us Chile is such an easy transition I’ve got extended family there and I just found out that I still have my Chilean citizenship so I have dual citizenship, I know someone who’s also collecting SS there and says the exchange makes his living very comfortable

My wife and I have been having that same conversation about Japan. Healthcare is almost free and once you are outside a major city, the cost of living is not too bad. Japan also treats the elderly very well.

Heading down to the Orlando area in 2 days. Going to look at 3 more apartments, and make our decision on which one to rent for 12 months. Kathy is going to keep working for 2 years, hopefully from home most of time. Our house will hopefully be officially up for sale within the next 3-4 weeks. All the major work has been finished. Gonna have a pod delivered and start loading it up with our belongings. Also going to get a small dumpster delivered and load that up with garbage and the furniture that we are not taking with us. Im paying someone to drive the pod down to Florida. The price was much cheaper than I was thinking it would be.

Hopefully the next 3-8 weeks go smoothly.
Im not really worried about the house selling. Its going to sell quickly.

Right on! The housing market in Florida is tanking. Im in no hurry to buy. Ill rent a year, make sure we are happy, and then we will make our next move. Being an hour or so from The Gulf, Cocoa Beach, and Daytona(Although I wasn't impressed with Daytona our last trip), sounds perfect.

The Florida housing is ridiculous. I've watched the prices plummet over the last 12 months. But finding single family homes in the area we want, that DO NOT have HOA, isn't easy. Its a whole different world down there.

Im sure you have followed the whole HOA situation in Florida. Its just a disaster. The whole condo thing scares me. But I'm sure you are well aware of the situation.

I’m down here right now. Looked at 10 apartments on Monday and 9 houses/townhomes tomorrow. Need to decide what makes the most financial sense. Winter Garden, Horizon West to be specific. Have lived here before. Small world (no pun) if our paths crossed.

Move out of that cesspool that is Orlando. Check out Ocala or Hollywood, Haelia. There are plenty of places you can go in Florida but for Gods sake stay away from the Villages!

it will be there....I'm planning on pulling at my full retirement age

it seems like living to 80 is the mark where benefits at your full retirement age match cumulative benefits when you wait until age 70.
