The first Pearl Jam song I heard was "Alive". Everyone was saying have you heard that song, "Alive". I was like "who, what". I had no clue. Then I heard it and I didn't think much of it. I was more of a Nirvana rat. Then my girlfriend at the time had the Ten cassette and I was addicted. I listened to it for hours and hours when I was delivering pizza for Dominos. I finally got to see them in '93 Indio, CA."Do you think the carpetpissers did this?" - The Dude0

alive.
i'd stopped listening to the radio in the late '80s. only listened to cds i already had or that people recommended. so i knew absolutely nothing about the "latest thing" and had given up hope that there would ever be any new music that i could be passionate about.
but i had just moved into a new apartment and my cd player wasn't hooked up yet. i had the radio on in my bedroom, and while i was mopping the bathroom i heard this voice. and i dropped the mop and followed the sound. and sat down on the floor and almost cried. that voice, coupled with those guitars, was the most beautiful thing i'd ever heard.
i'll skip the story about how i broke a hummel when i first heard release.you paid to get in, you're free to leave.0 -

Black.......on the radio........and I was hooked for life.
Here's the selfless confession:
God forgive me, but the first time I heard it, I turned to a friend and said "Who is this? Stone Temple Pilots?""This band has provided many people a soundtrack to their lives.." ~ CitizenRick0 -

It was A live video shoot of PJ playing ALIVE around 91/92 right before PJ went on the lollapalooza tour. Eddie captivated me as soon as I saw and listened, I was floored with anticipation of what was going to be of this band! I had no idea they would do what they have done for the face of music to this day!0

i don't remember the first one i heard, but i do remember one time i asked my sister what the title of Jeremy was... duh. and i used to think that in Daughter he was saying "don't call me... don't." the second "don't" came where ed gets real low to say daughter. i was young and didn't listen to lyrics much back then, obviously..."Music for me is one of the more healing art forms. I think anybody can put on a pair of headphones and put in a disk or play a record and have it change them." - Jeff
